Breakfast poor, I often stay in Holiday Inn Express Hotels & normally breakfasts are much better than the one on offer at this hotel.

"We got off to a bad start because we were given a smoking room which reeked of smoke. The hotel were unable to give us another room as the hotel was full despite the fact that we arrived at 3:30pm and the earliest check in was 3pm. They said because we booked on the internet and not direct with them, that they could not guarantee us a non-smoking room. It was unpleasant for us as we do not smoke but we had no choice but to put up and shut up. Also, we had booked a twin room but the sofa bed had not been made up for us which it should have been. Apart from the above, we were happy with our room and it represented good value for money, particularly as Bath is expensive for accommodation generally. The bathroom seemed to be brand new and was sparkling clean. They gave us fresh towels for our second day which most hotels don't do these days. The air conditioning was great and easy to control. We would stay here again but would want a guaranteed non-smoking room. Would also like the option not to pay for breakfast which was very poor. Firstly, there was not enough tables to seat all the guests. Then they expect you to self-clear the tables but most people didn't want to do that so the tables were piled high with dirty dishes and there didn't seem to be any staff available to clear them. The breakfast was very unappetising and not what we would call a "continental breakfast". The breakfast area was so small people were constantly bumping into each other and we really couldn't wait to get out of there. "

Plenty of free car parking. Spacious room and bathroom. Very clean. Air conditioning. Our room was quiet. Very reasonably priced accommodation for Bath.

Breakfast chaotic and poor value for money. We had to stay in a smoking room, despite requesting a non-smoking room.

It was what I expected from a Hotel of this kind, especially appreciated was the on site parking

The range of food remaining in the chilled display was limited when we arrived in the evening, but was adequate as a full meal was not needed.

Not enough cutlery, crockery available at breakfast, meant queued each morning waiting for glasses, cups, cutlery

Room was very clean, Bathroom was spotless. Small car park but had no problem getting a space. Easy access to centre of Bath

Quiet area, good bus route into the city

Were to;d we had to have a smoking room despite having specified we wanted non smoking. Breakfast room badly organized - people bumping into each other and hot drinks not working when it was really busy.

Traffic is noisy even with closed windows. Breakfast trays to be cleared away.

The hotel is in a really good location with very easy access to the city centre and free parking. The reception staff were very helpful and the breakfast was nice. The room was very clean and had everything we needed but with 3 adults in one room there was not a lot of space.

Some of the communal areas had not been cleaned after a busy Saturday night in the hotel.

the building skip outside of our room, unable to open the window for air and fire escape, this was quite a thing with reception,they could not understand a window is a fire escape,in fact i am surprised the fire regulations allow this situation.

"Check-in was a disaster. The receptionist couldnt speak very good English making it difficult to communicate, and she had not referred to her fax for the booking which she subsequently found making me power up my PC to show the booking confirmation. When I arrived there was only 1 room left which could so easily have been given away."

Price late purchase

Very hot and smoking room. Air conditioning unit had been installed, but was not operating.

"I thought that the hotel is in a good position, easy walking distance from town and is clearly signed for those unsure of the area. I had all the relevent information so it left nothing to ask. I didn't realise that you could take dogs there, which although didn't bother us, I suppose it should be mentioned because my friend has a fear of them and she would have needed this information before booking there."

The room was very clean and had everything that we needed in it. There was a notice saying that we could ask at reception if we had forgotten any toiletries etc and they would give them to us, which I thought was very good.

The only thing that I didn't like was that there bar is the entrance foyer and there were a group of teenage boys who were loud and their constant swearing was annoying.

Friendly & Helpful staff. Location to Bath Spa University and Bath town centre was good. We like the buffet style breakfast and felt there was a varied selection of food and beverages available.

Bed was uncomfortable. Was a little disappointed at the lack of bed linen for the sofa bed. There was no sheet or duvet cover!

"compared to other express types your facilty is sadly lacking - genreal hygene leves were poor and the fact that you have to do everything yourself bar make the bed seems to me a joke. If you are charging that amount of money at least some form of service should be avaliable. As I have mentioned I will not be using this chain again. I will book online but not your hotels"

"There were a great deal of children in the hotel; many were running up and down the corridors late into the night. Breakfast was a scrabble - there were no tables to sit at - we were forced to sit in the lounge area. There was chewing gum left in the table decorations, in fact the hotel appeared to be overrun by children."

A bit more space in the check in area. other than that- a very pleasant stay!!!

"Hotel is on a busy road, but road noise is not a problem. Plenty of parking spaces, which other hotels nearer the centre have not. The centre is not as far away as it looks! Internet conections in all rooms. Hair drier supplied. Plenty of buses to take you to the centre of town, but not too far to walk. Plenty to choose from for breakfast, and eat as much as you like."

Everything was clean and tidy. The bed was NOT too hard unlike most hotels. I like the idea of if you have forgotten any small toiletry item the hotel will supply it for you.

No smoking in common areas at all times. A few more Sky programs available, eg: Discovery and Eurosport.

"AS I WAS WITH FAMILY AND CHILD, I WAS NOT SURE WHAT TYPE OF FAMILY ACCOMODATION WOULD BE PROVIDED, I WAS EXPECTING SPECIOUS ROOM FOR FAMILY , BUT I FOUND FAMILY ROOMS BIT CRAMPED. HOTEL MANAGEMENT CAN IMPROVE ON THIS. BUT OVER ALL STAY WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND NICE."

"DO like 1. your breakfast, good quality though all items are the same everyday 2. Clean room and good facilities DOn't like 1. The key cards did not work well, changed key twice 2. The receptionist 8-9pm in Bath refused to set up the extra bed for me and claimed that the standard of all Express Holiday Inn were not the same. And told me impolitely to set it up myself.!! 3. In Baht, I requested an additional set for towel, and it was not delivered til I called again 15 mins wait. In fact, the towel should be set according to the number of guests staying! 4. In Birmingham, I stayed in the first two nights and wanted to leave some luggages there whilst travelling to Bath staying in the same chained hotel but i was rejected as I could not leave them overnight!!!. It was so ridiculous you know? I am hotelier as well and we wouldnot reject any request from guests especially a very very small request like this. My reason is that, I was going to the Express Holiday Inn in Baht just for a night, not other hotel nor other chained hotel. And I was there, i was even told that the standard were not the same..no need to expect anything from you!!!.. gosh!!, if you let your staff do this, and they lack of the sense of belonging to your hotel, you would find hard to improve your hotel."

Cleanliness and condition of rooms though very small with extra bed.

staff attitude and assistance. They seemed to be so little helpful and unwilling to help. And it was not worth paying. I paid in Express Birmingham 112 pounds and 80 in Bath! and I didn't even get what I paid for as I believe others would get such a lower room rate than me!!

"The advantage of this hotel is that it has Car Parking facilities and is within an easy ten minute walk of Bath city centre.Our room was quiet and well appointed. The staff were very helpful and overall it is a good choice to stay for anyone who wants a good clean hotel as a base for seeing Bath and the surrounding area."

Good value for money and efficient and very clean

Busy hotel and the breakfast ares was hardly adequate although it was clean and well supplied with all necessary for a continental breakfast
