"For a short time, on a short budget it is fine. Not that good for longer business trips."

nice friendly staff, great location. breakfast included; hair dryer in room.

Mattress was excessively soft, and there were no hard mattresses available. Stairs everywhere, it was not possible to go anywhere without having to take some stairs. Blanket was stained. No internet access from room.

"Room comfortable enough...seeing that we stayed on NYE we expected street nosie, and ther was plenty! Breakfst was good, lots of choice but hotel decor lack lustor - even though hotel building old there was no reason for decor to be sorry for itself."

Spacious room - booked a double, got a family room. Bathroom massive.

Heating on too hot - was roasting in bedroom. Due to nature of floors the bed was on a slant but was comfortable. No hot water to shower with in the morning. My partner had a shower night before, hot water available then. Bathroom freezing! No heating, it was either extreme.

    "Convenient location, terrible hotel."

    Convenient location.

The room had a really strong smell of cigerettes, even to the extent where my clothes smelt after staying in the room. A friend staying in another room had exactly the same experience. General state of repair was poor bathroom was shabby, tv remote held together with sellotape, damaged walls, window was rotten, etc. Room was very small.

"For an overnight stay in central Nottingham on a budget it was good accommodation."

Clean hotel, friendly staff, good location, reasonable price

TV remote control didn't work, shower temperature control didn't work properly 90% of range was too hot, and it didn't stay at a single temperature but drifted colder throughout shower. Although not a problem for me, a tall person might have headroom problems in the shower.

"When I travel, I have relatively simple needs, and do resent paying for things which I neither need nor want. Your formula for me is spot on. Guess I was lucky enough as a solo traveller to be allocated a twin bed room, with all the relative spaciousness that implies. I did read in advance on-line traveller reviews, as many do, and these are extremely mixed, so I had a degree of trepidation in advance. You have either a improved bgiven me a lucky visit, or c have pernickety vistors who look for 'luxury' but don't want to pay for it. Stick with how you do it! In on-line terms, had to trawl a number of websites to get the best rate and even then, I discovered after booking, I didn't quite! But that's the on-line challenge - for me - and I have no complaint"

excellent staff, giving excellent local advice, superb location, terrific value for money. sensibly furnished rooms, all essentials there and nothing that was superfluous for which one automatically pays

Nothing bad, but the temperature control of the hot water could be raised a bit, since it was a bit uncomfortable to wet-shave with; yet far better than expensively overheated water! The ambient noise late at night - until about 0130 - of a popular city centre is the downside of a great location, especially if, like me, you have to sleep with a window open - but that is not your fault in any way. Luckily I'm an owl rather than a lark, so just accepted and got on with life - until sleep!

    "good stay"

    convenient location, good price

staff at reception doesnt pick up the phone. Careful if you have big suitcases as some of the rooms are accessible by a small staircase on each floor.

Basic room but had everything you needed.

Rotten window frames didn't help keep the noise out - very stuffy rooms

"An enjoyable weekend apart from the noise outside."

A pleasant hotel near to all amenities

Unbelievably noisy. We were offered a quieter room but it only had a shower and we preferred a room with bath. It was so noisy on Fri/Sat nights from activities outside that after a sleepless night on Friday we had to buy ear plugs to get us through Saturday night. Double glazing would have helped considerably. The room was also very warm but we dare not open the windows because of the noise.

"I selected the hotel for it's central location and proximity to transport links. Generally I had a pleasant stay. The rooms are a little tired, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom facilities in particular could benefit from renewal, but I would reiterate are hygenic and functional. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful."

Excellent city centre location, close to tram and bus links and a short walk from the railway station.

The central location means lots of late-night entertainment venues nearby, and this can result in noise during the early hours.

"Have stayed here before and will be very happy to stay here again."

Comfortable room, small but perfectly adequate. Excellent buffet breakfast and very pleasant service throughout. Very convenient location. Modern TV with text.

Nothing which overly bothered me - although I did have the good fortune to be in a room at the back which reduced the noise from Nottingham's weekend revellers. TV reception not brilliant but I don't go away to watch TV.

    Central location in Nottingham.

Bedroom and most public areas in need of renovation in just about every respect. Not so much cheaper than a good quality modern hotel like Ibis to be good value in my opinion.

    "OK"

Location was close to City centre, car park pay was close.

Very dodgy area of Nottingham to go out in Drunks, Drug Adicts and Ladies of the Night!!!, suits some but not me.

Nice room for a good price, decent heating

Thin windows let a bit of noise through

    "Very disappointing."

    Bed linen was clean.

Hotel needs refurbishing and a good clean! Bed was very uncomfortable but linen was cleanVery noisy both in and out of the hotel due to the location. The choice at breakfast was reasonable, but I prefer to be served fresh coffee or tea, not out of a dated and shabby machine which stood next to a full trash bin to dispose of your used teabags.

"Good overall but wouldn't stay on a weekend again due to noise outside."

Easy check in, good city centre location, friendly staff even at 1am!

Directly opposite a very loud bar - checked in at 1am and was kept awake til 2am. However my colleague on the 4th floor didn't hear a thing, so guess it depends where in the hotel you are.

"Unsatisfactory. Hotel needs needs a major facelift and represents poor value for money when compared with other more modern alternatives. "

    Central location otherwise none.

Hotel, room decor & facilities are very tired. My room window failed to shut properly leaving a draught through it which was't ideal as it snowed during my stay. Shower dripped continually and bathroom extractor fan sounded like a Saturn V rocket.

"The location was good but I wouldn't choose to spend antoher £75.00 in this hotel and would probably not book a comfort hotel in future based on the state of this one"

Good location for the arena Nice breakfast

Mould on the bathroom windows, no bubbly and chocolates in room we had to ask twice for this and it was not in an ice bucket so was warm when we got it. Signs pointed to a bar in the hotel but there wasn't one. Tired decor and miserable receptionist with no acknowledgements or conversation

"conveniant and clean at a good price but the creaking floorboards and shabby surroundings was disapointing"

    great location

very tired hotel needs a refit, breakfast was poor due to soggy hash browns and sausages that had very little meat content
