"Would I stay in the hotel again? Yes, but only because of the excellent response of the duty manager and general manager to my complaints. Their response was absolutely first class! "

Clean, excellent room. No evidence that the "no smoking" room had ever been smoked in, unlike some hotels that I could name. The standard of the rooms is very much higher than the appearance of the hotel when seen from the M271 would suggest!

The soap and shower gel dispensers in the room were empty and no alternative was available. The bath towels are far too small. Unbelievably rude receptionist when I checked out. This has since been resolved to my entire satisfaction. Ugly building, especially when viewed from the M271. It belies the standard of the rooms within!

"It was a pleasant stay and quite enjoyable."

Room was nice and clean and tidy and with a good view. We are planning to stay again during the year as Southampton is only few miles away. We stay in hotels all over u.k every so often so we always look for value for money.

They put only 2 tea bags in the room . Ideally there should be few more.

"OK - back this week for two more nights"

    All good

Default was invalid access which came with a wet room but I would rather have a bathroom. No immediate restaurant! Would prefer smoking even though I don't smoke. Whisky seamed weak.

convenient location. clean and tidy hotel

Window broken so motorway noise could not be blocked out. bedside light broken. Not keen on paying for internet access when other hotels of similar price offer it for free.

Whilst we were delayed at check in for the second time you staff did have the courtesy to offer us a coffee and biscuits.

The room was dirty, the pillows needed replacing, the bed linen was non existant and we were requested at 9 p.m. that evening to change rooms as the linen was not available even after being advised at 3 p.m. that day by us that the room was not ready.

    "Satisfactory"

Reasonably priced. Working desk facility good.

Booked into room only to find that the room was not made up with towels strewn on the floor and the bed not made. The room obviously had not been attended to. Was given an alternative room. Food choice for dinner poor.

Arrangements were made by the company Head Office to have the B&B part of the bill settled with a previously communicated company credit card and guests were to settle any extras on departure. No-one at the hotel appeared to have any knowledge of this arrangement so the whole bill had to be settled by one of the party staying at the hotel - we at Head Office were not impressed by this failure to carry out instructions.

"The stay on the 1st of May was quite chaotic. The place appeared to be overbooked with the amount of people that were milling around the lobby area. It took too long to get service whether it be for a meal or a drink. It seemed to be understaffed or the hotel was not ready for such a large influx of people on that day."

Not much to complain about the accommodation.

"Good hotel, convenient for Motorway although signs to the establishment would be a great help."

Clean and tidy. Comfortable beds and adequate breakfast.

Noisy room, could hear next room's tv and also hear guests moving around and talking late at night.

"You can't really go far wrong with Holiday Inn Express; they're fairly cheap and generally pretty consistent. Unfortunately in this one the bed was a bit hard and the blankets a bit thin so it was a cold night, but I think that was a one off and they would probably have brought another blanket if I had been bothered enough to ask"

cheap, easy to find, breakfat included

Beds were very hard and room was cold

"Expected there to be a pub close by or next to the hotel, as experienced at the Birmingham Express by Holiday Innfor evening meal, but hotel serves food Monday to Thursday evenings, which was fine, so we were ok, but think this is something people should be aware of. Lovely fresh croissants for breakfast! Staff very friendly and efficient."

    perfectly adequate and very clean

    pillows were quite hard

    Easy access

Although I requested a room at the rear of the hotel away from traffic noise, I was put in the front, where the noise was intolerable. The hotel did not appear to be at full occupancy either, so I'm surprised they weren't able to accommodate my request.

"Overall hotel was good, breakfast adequate.Problems brought to attention of staff were taken on board but no feedback given of what was wrong and when it would be put right.Staff meetings held in front of breakfast bar ,this included management.so guest had to go around them to get breakfast,no problems with meetings but should have realised what time of day it was."

staff on arrival were friendly, attention of room maids very good

a warmer room on arrival would have been welcomed.Lack of feedback on problems.

"I would never stay here again. Too noisy. Made worse by the fact that road works commenced right outside my window on the M27 at 2.30am, with pneumatic drill and amber flashing lights going almost continually for over 2 hours."

Hotel is very close to the busy M27, and I could hear continuous passing traffic, to the extent that I could even hear the radios playing in some cars. Also, walls are as thin as cardboard and could hear the person next door coughing.

"The heating system in the room was not working properly. I had to either set it to maximum for it to work or turn it off completely. So I had the choice of either cooking or freezing while I slept. The second morning of my stay was quite an experience. NO paper napkins at breakfast. I asked and they said they were out of napkins. Messy breakfast."

Fair sized room and reasonable bath facilities en-suite
