everything went smoothly from arrival to check out. The hotel was in excellent condition , large and comfortable rooms. We did not use the leisure or conference facilities but these are no doubt as good as the rest.

One small niggle of carelessness, the mattresses on our double bed where the wrong way round and not zipped together as they should have been.

"A good stylish hotel that offers much inside, so one is not obliged to go out for dinner !"

Good leisure centre, very good pub inside the hotel, almost alwais open

At arrival, with a cold weather, our room was ICY COLD !!! the hotel restaurant Verve Grill was often closed during our stay and opened late 8.00 a.m. for breakfast. Our room was not very large.

"We enjoyed the breakfast and lunch as well."

    Good breakfast and service

The room was not cleaned properly. Lot dust on the carpet and complete waste under the sofa when we moved to arrange for my child. There wasn't any shower gel or shampoo for bath.usually all these things are provided for the stay. This was a bad experience as i stayed to attend my interview. More over the bath room is full of mould. It is better to refurbish the roof.

    "Very good"

No complaints regarding room, en-suite facilities very good Restaurant was run very efficiently for breakfasts, staff very obliging

At the end of our stay we were presented initially with an inaccurate account which was sorted out eventually, but it was most embarrassing having to point out that we were being asked to pay for two items which we had not had.

Good facilities. Good food. Briliant staff

Charged £100 more than the booking reservation says for the cost of the rooms.

    "I will not be returning."

Excellent waiter in the restaurant at dinner time.

Reception was understaffed when I arrived, and the staff that were there did not even make eye contact for some time. I had to wait about 10 minutes before anyone even spoke to me, and when they did, the greeting was "are you all right", which did not seem appropriate in the circumstances. I had to ask for directions to get to my room, rather than being told where it was. The room was mostly clean but not entirely, and considering the hotel markets itself on the basis of comfort and luxury, I felt the bed was very small for a double. The walls are very thin and you can hear conversations next door. I think that if you are going to pay £90 for a room you could be entitled to have a choice of newspapers in the morning, but not only was I not offered one, but when I asked, the only one available was the Independent, which is not to everyone's taste.

"The receptionist didnt seem that bothered when I mentioned the noise in the early hours, just said "oh well some people are so inconsiderate" "

Very noisey due to people running up and down corridor at 2AM and slamming doors.

"Despite the grubby bathroom and the dust, our stay was most enjoyable and comfortable and we would visit again. We did giggle about the grubbiness as we were quite cheery and relaxed, but others may not be! Its a shame to ruin an otherwise faultless set-up with something so simple as proper bathroom/room cleanliness. I was going to mention it to someone on our departure but in the end I did not."

Food absolutely wonderful, staff friendly polite and helpful at all times, day or night. Lovely hotel, beds were very comfortable, good value for money, good facilities throughout. Communal areas all clean and luxurious.

Room esp. bathroom not very clean. I have been a cleaner for most of my life, for a lot of those years in a supervisory capacity, I would not have called it very clean. Taps in sink werent clean, old toothpaste/ white stains over them, hairs in the sink, toilet roll holder and wall at back of toilet not clean. Around toilet seat fittings and hinge disgustingly dirty! Room very dusty, even dust visible on the walls! although beds and bedding/towels spotless. In my humble opinion the cleaners need additional training,or their work to be checked by someone who knows how to clean to high standards.

    Overall avery good hotel but........

No hot water later in the evening and according to reception this situation was known. Room had no view just a brick wall - this was not mentioned when we checked in.

"enjoyed our stay, very comfy, good quality bed. after a busy day the 25 metre pool and sauna etc were great. Also the late Sunday breakfast gave ample time for a morning swim. Dinner was good and reasonable value for money. Pleased with the berries , melon etc at breakfast."

excellent pool area and good outdoor area for drinks on a rare warm weekend! Good location, near the city but adjacent to lovely walks and wildlife at the Attenburgh nature reserve,

"A Good weekend ruined by food of a very very low standard."

the accommodation and facilities were excellent.

the food in "The Verve" restaurant was was to a very poor standard, so much so that we were offered a complimentary meal, however had i been paying for that meal i would have returned that too. Spoilt the whole stay!

"This was our second stay at a 'Village' hotel and if I had the choice of a 'Village' hotel and other chain I would choose 'Village' every time."

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stop in Nottingham. Our room was spacious and cosy and our bed very comfortable. The bathroom was also very spacious. We sampled the food at the pub which we considered good value for money, although the bar televisions for the football were rather loud but the volume was turned down after the football had finished. The pool and its amenities was excellent.

Our only criticism is that the breakfast room could have been managed a little better. We waited 15 minutes to be seated and although we knew it was busy in the dining area there were plenty of tables available but needed to be cleared and laid up.

"AS WE WERE STAYING ON VALENTINES NIGHT I PHONED THE DAY BEFORE TO CHECK THAT A NORMAL MENU WOULD BE OFFERED AND WAS ASSURED IT WAS WAS. WHEN WE ARRIVED WE WERE TOLD THAT THE RESTAURANT WAS FULLY BOOKED, I WAS PEEVED BECAUSE NOBODY SUGGESTED BOOKING WHEN I HAD PHONED. WE WERE OFFERED THE PUB BUT THE MENU IS VERY LIMITED SO WE HAD TO GO OUT TO EAT WHICH WAS A CHORE. WILL REMEMBER TO BOOK IN FUTURE."

We always enjoy Village Hotels, especially the swimming pool, which makes a pleasant distraction.

We requested a smoking room but were given a non smoking with a letter to say if we smoked we would be charged to deodourise the room.

"This was a great place to stay when on business. It had everything you would expect and need. So if you need a place to pitch up late afternoon/early evening and ship out the next day this is an ideal place to stay."

It was all very clean, tidy and quite new. The free use of the leisure/fitness facilities was great as was the free wi-fi availability.

"The hotel had a pleasant atmosphere and our room was spacious and comfortable with all facilities we required. The breakfast was excellent with a choice to suit every need and the staff were very attentive. We also liked the check in 16:00pm and check out 11:00am times which meant our arrival and departure were not rushed."

The comfortable room and the location of the hotel.

"As reported above we both thought the hotel was brilliant. On reflection though, if we had known before hand how good the food was we would have booked it before we arrived and may have saved a little money. As I came on a trip down memory lane to visit where I was born Chilwell 70 years ago, the next time I will see whats on special offer before I book. Best Regards, Dave"

Everything was of a very high standard in particular the food, the breakfast being out of this world, it was a real treat!

The only thing my wife and I experienced which could be described as not being quite to our liking was the mattress. After the first night we awoke with sore hips. We are both elderly though and this is probably a key factor. The second night was fine, can't explain why?
