"I would use it as a quiet retreat for a leisure stay, but not ideal for business and staff numbers seemed inadequate to cater for my needs"
Pleasant surroundings, nicely furnished, quiet. Food was good and well presented
Reception was closing when I arrived at 7pm! Wasn't able to contact room service from my room no reply and had to go downstairs to find someone to place my order. Kettle didn't work, no mini bar in room, shower leaked all over the floor

"Execellent venue, accomodation and restaurant for our 37th wedding anniversay. May well return for our 38th."
Restaurant, Room and additional requests were exactly as requested.
The only very small point was that the TV remote control required new batteries.

"Nice room. Had to travel each evening to find local places to eat as the restaurant/bar could not cater for our needs or business budget."
Nice room
visions of grandeur with respect to the dress code in the overpriced restaurant. Inadequate bar menu to compliment the restaurant. Overpriced bar menu. Uncomfortable bar area. Really pleasant library - pity they wouldn't put the fire on.... Amazing spectacle of the bar manager pouring a £200 bottle of champagne for unsuspecting guests...overfilling glasses and losing about £20 worth on the carpet!

The hotel is lovely and the staff could not have been more helpful
the bedroom is rather small, fine for one night but would have been a little cramped for longer stay The bar is rather chilly in winter its a conservatory. We took our drinks inot the lobby area but the fire was not lit and the seats are all very close to each other. Would be nice to have a cosy bar somewhere although I am sure the garden one is lovely in summer

"An overall good experience, would recommend it for a break in the countryside, but ask if a wedding is on. If so, plan your trip accordingly."
Lovely grounds, well kept gardens, restaurant, breakfast and chamber staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant menu was good we ate in for first night, well prepared, attractive presentation.
We were staying on B&B basis. We were charged an extra £2.50 for poached eggs on toast, rather than the included full english breakfast. In that example, less was certainly more! The hotel is a country wedding venue and as such Saturday evening/night was quite noisy. The older teenage son of the groom estimate 19yrs old, set off the firealarm soon after his father and stepmom went to their room; obviously thought it highly amusing. It was not!

Excellent location, beautiful building and gardens, food excellent and staff very efficient, friendly and professional.
Decor beginning to look a little tired. In need of updating.

"Not a great experience. We stayed in the Sheraton Park Tower for the rest of our stay in the UK, which was much better. "
The setting of the hotel is charming, beautiful scenery and grounds. Free wifi is nice.
The condition of the rooms is poor, very old furniture, musty smell, uncomfortable bed and other furniture. My wife also has a food allergy and is pregnant and the hotel waitstaff was less than helpful in accommodating the menu in the kitchen and bar to her needs. The hotel also had a lot of awards hanging about talking about the great qualities of the cuisine. Even for a hotel, the cuisine is nothing special. We wanted to play croquet but they said the croquet set had been damaged by guests earlier in the season and had not yet been replaced.

"A good hotel with an excellent restaurant. Reception and billing aside a very good stay"
Beautiful old hotel set in lovely gardens. Restaurant was excellent
No check in staff on arrival so had to wander around looking for staff. Reception closed evenings and early morning Drinks very expensive and service charge added to bill

Beautiful setting and gardens in the middle of the countryside. Architecture inside and out beautiful. Food excellent.
Twice we were told that our room would not be guaranteed and that we might be moved elsewhere at the last minute!! However, because we were part of a wedding party this would not happen!! Not satisfactory. Also, misunderstandings with staff who had little understanding of the English language. Some staff 'cold'.

"excellent value for money in a beautiful location, four poster rooms are stunning and at great prices. perfect for the peaceful romantic weekend or night..."
overall excellent in every respect, beautiful hotel and gardens
minor issue with other guests being very noisey on communal seating areas outside the room late at night which took some time to resolve

"overall the facilities were very good but poor customer service would prevent me from going back to this hotel. I would never pay the prices asked if paying directly to the hotel as they are double the price of active hotels."
room was very clean and well furnished. The actual grounds and were beautiful.
very bad service. Food was reheated. Bad customer service. We requested an alarm call so that we didn't miss our flight, we never received a call. Luckily we woke up ourselves. Could have been difficult as we had a flight to catch.

"The bar menu was limited and very expensive. We ate in restaurant on our arrival and the meal we had was good but very small portions. We also found the same with breakfast limited fresh fruit, limited toast and only one waitress to deal with everyones requests consequently things got forgotten. The fruit was then replenished and whilst only just starting on the fruit out came the cooked breakfast which consequently was then getting cold. Lack of staff I believe was the problem."
The setting of the hotel and the grounds were just perfect for a Wedding.
The tea and coffee making facilites were no easy to get to in tne bedroom

"We arrived late evening and were most impressed by the well lit long drive. Reception was first class both on arrival and departure. We were satisfied with our room although would not have been if we were paying advertised price. The breakfast was adequate and the position and views from the hotel were delightfull."
Location, ambience.
The room size was quite small, would have been dissappointed if paying full price.

"The Stanhill Court Hotel is set amongst splendid countryside with accommodation that is second to none. All staff were exceptionally helpful and totally professional. The food served was superb and excellent value for money. The best quality hotel I have stayed in for a very long time."
Exceptionally comfortable rooms with outstanding facilities.

The hotel building itself was impressive, as was the interior decor. The grounds were attractive.Bathroom ensuite was fine.
The room fittings were somewhat jaded, and the bed cover in the room occupied by my son and partner was grubby. We had 2 rooms

"A well presented and sized room, set in relaxing grounds. Hotel presented professionally and staff were in the same manner.Food presentation and quality was excellent. En-suite was a bit on the small size and needed a bit of attention for repairs. We were quite upset that although a 4-poster room was ordered and confirmed we never had it. We were told these were on a first come first served basis and other people had checked in before us! This upset us as we had written confirmation. Beware, you might not get what you reserved."
Excellent setting, good room.
Very difficult to locate rooms. Better visual displays required.

"A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The quality and choice of food and the service in the restaurant were all excellent. Our only complaint was that we were under the impression that we were having a courtesy car to the airport on our departure and this turned out not to be the case. The reason for this was explained to us on our return to the hotel to collect our car and we were satisfied with the explanation. However, we would suggest that the wording on the web site is altered to make it clear exactly what is included in each package and what it not."
Excellent ambiance - real oldie worldie hotel. Could have been out of an Agatha Christie film - kept expecting M. Poirot to appear!

"Fine hotel in beatiful surroundings. Staff very helpful & even though large hotel has ability to come across as small & friendly which for a woman travelling on business alone is very helpful."
Location, comfort, staff, grand surroundings, excellent breakfast.
2nd visit & the phone wasn't working again in my room.

"My overall stay was fabulous I didn't realise the hotel was in such fantastic woodlands could of taken my walking shoes. The staff were fab and very helpful even in embarrsing situations. And the food was very well presented and even room service was prompt in responding and food was still hot. I would definatley recommmend the hotel to others and would go back myself, hopefully for a longer stay."
It was spacious and very well laid out, comfy and very clean plus had a lovely view overlooking the grounds. And i could hear the waterfall out side which was very relaxing.
No remote for the T.V. pure laziness on my part! Not enough T.V. channels and no instructions for them. If there was i didn't actually see them. This was my only complaint!

the grands was very good and had some lovely walks around the hotel. the hotel was very good as well and had a nice relaxing fill to it.
the room was very nice but you could not put the heating on when you wanted it and you did not have a blind on the toilet window and are toilet window looked out on to the patio.

"Tried to contact front desk to turm off towel heater on which I burned myself twice but there was no answer at either the front desk or 2 other numbers available after dinner."
Picturesque setting and pretty property.
No option for larger bed until we arrived at which time none were available. Shower was large but bathroom was miniscule. Shower was actually larger than balance of bathroom.

"There was no lift.My wife is slighly disabled and, particularly early in the day, finds stairs a little difficult to negotiate. Visitorwise, as a stopping-off place for a night's rest, we have nothing but praise for the location, particularly the peacefulness so close to Gatwick Airport."
Comfortable bed for a good night's sleep after a long drive.
No ventilation in the bathroom. Only one chair in bedroom. Noisy staff running electric cleaning equipment on landing at 8.00am. Dining room staff unaware that guests had still not eaten breakfast at 9.10am when all hotel literature stated that breakfast would be available until 9.30!
from Harpenden United Kingdom;UK, stayed on February 1, 2006
"For the price the bathroom was small. The shower made the most alarming noise. The television control had a mind of its own and I did not really find what I was looking for The food at our 88th birthday dinner was adequate, but not spectacular."

Breakfast looked better on the menu than it did on the table.

Nice and personal atmosphere
room standard could be improved. The 4 poster bed is too big for a small room. Lightening was not good enough. Bathroom too tiny.

"I was impressed with the ease of booking the accomodation. The hotel and room lived up to its descripion. Check in was very easy, no form filling."
The character of the hotel, wood panelling and the sweeping staircase. Quietness and very comfortable room with lovely views over the countryside
Beautiful menu, too expensive for breakfast

"We stayed in a luxury four poster room room 4 which was absolutely superb. We had just spent 5 nights in luxury accomodatuion in Italy and returned to this gem of a hotel. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, the staff being highly professional without being stuffy. We liked the fact that this hotel was smaller than most Gatwick hotels and delivered a much more personal service. We will recommend this hotel to our friends and definately return."
Beautiful spacious room with luxury furnishings. The room overlooked the gardens and was very peaceful.
None whatsoever.

"We enjoyed our stay, other than the cold water issue...we prefer hot showers. The hotel is very convenient to traveling out of Gatwick. We much prefered your facility to a standard hotel."
Nice room; excellent food; service was good when staff was around - there were times when it was difficult locating a staff person. Once we had located someone, we had excellent attention.
There was no hot water in the room - either through the shower or at the tub or sink taps.

"Overall not a good experience, I love the grounds and the downstairs of the hotel, very grand, but the service and the rooms are very poor. Absolutely not value for money! I was lucky to get an offer of £75 per night, but all my friends paid £145 - which is far too much for the level of rooms they provide. "
the setting of the hotel is beautiful
the staff are not very friendly nor attentive, I had to wait for my toast about 15 mins, whilst my breakfast was getting cold, one person - the manager seems to be doing everything and not very good, the room is old, I hated the blanket - it is winter and we had one skimpy, horrible, scratchy blanket, the room was far too hot, the heating regulator was not working, the bed was terribly uncomfortable, I did not sleep all night.
