"basic and did the job for an overnight stay when doing the half marathon in city centre"
relatively close to city centre, 10 minutes drive and cheap hotel. staff let us check out later at no extra cost as we needed to come back and freshen up after completing the city half marathon. clean dining/breakfast room
room very basic and smelled of stale smoke probably from when it used to be a smoking room in past ? the bath was mouldy around the taps and the tea making equipment ie cups and kettle was stained and unusable generally a very tatty room. the bar and breakfast room was nice and clean and breakfast was good

"Good"
Excellent location for local transport into the city
Can be noisy when there are wedding parties in the Hotel.

"Good apart from the above, if staying again would ask for a room at a different part of the hotel."
Location was good, car parking excellent.
Smoking area was directly under our bedroom, late night noise ensued.

"Pleasant experience, food in the restaurant was very good, and the service excellent"
All the staff were very helpful and nothinb was too much trouble, they all seemed happy at their work
The cleanliness of the room and bathroom were poor. The general decor of the bathroom and some of the room furniture need updating.
from Southampton UK, stayed on July 28, 2009
"The staff were better than at most mid-price hotels. Generally a pleasant stay. The 'other' category above is that I was sharing a twin-room with my grown-up son."
Easy, convenient location, good car parking. Excellent breakfast.
Slightly tired decor, but OK. The bar was not conducive to relation, and the draught beers selection was miserable.

"good hotel to much noise form bad guests and not controlled."
nice location good staff
did not get a nights sleep as noise of party groups in hotel was bad, they went on to smash a fire door out side my room at 3.00am room 228, and i feel i should get a refund as i went there to sleep not be kept awake all night

"Took a while to get to a room that was ok. I checked in fairly later so was frustrated by that delay."
Friendly staff reception and pub
First room smokey! Therefore changed rooms

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there was a big wedding going on during our stay but it didnt interrupt our stay in anyway. Would recomend to friedns and family as a decent hotel for a fair price."
Very Friendly staff, breakfast was really good and cooked well, good car parking availability, hotel set in very peaceful surroundings.
Some of the hotel furnishings are showing thier age and could do with a deep clean to bring them back upto standard but wasnt dirty just looking a little used. as coffee lovers would of been nice to have the coffee machine open late on but was turned off even though the bar was open.

Extremly load music in room from down stairs entertainment room, which did not finish until 1am. So loud could not hear TV

Location, near M1 as drove from Newcastle. Clean room and bathroom.

"Once bitten. "
The hotel advertised sky sports in each room , this was not the case , also advertised a resturant this was not the case and only bar food was avalible. Looks like this was a nice hotel maybe 5 years ago but sorry to say its now a hotel on the slide.
No decent food avalible No sky sports in the room One guy working the bar.

"It served the purpose, nothing more. "
Check-in was easy and quick and the receptionist had our booking to hand as soon as we walked through the door, so arriving late at night was no problem. There is a lovely goose in the pond outside!
The hair dryer in the room was broken, as was the phone in the room. The water in the shower was tepid.
from Alnwick UK, stayed on April 21, 2009
"Room was disappointing, bathroom was in a little disrepair, but the hotel food/ drinks and amenities were very good."
Bar and restauraunt were excellent. Provided with money off drinks vouchers to be used at the bar.
Room was smelling of stale smoke. Bar was a little pricey offset with the vouchers to a degree.

"Very comfortable."
Softer bed than normal in hotels, etc. Good breakfast included in internet price. Light and airy. Good size room. Quiet. Pond made it attractive. Internet deal good value.
Bathroom needs refurbishing - grubby looking corner and 'goo' sealing sealing soil pipe from loo, although I think it is actually clean, just tired. Picture in bedroom looking tired and grubby.

"reasonable value for money"
staff very helpfull good size free car park good local transport connections to nottingham centre -- bus and tram

"Fine, for a small amount of expenditure you could make the overall stay very good."
Reception, staff, welcome, room etc were fine.
Breakfast: Sausages - cheap tastless, very low meet content Scrambled egg - didnt tast normal, huge pieces made by a machine

"Adequate for an overnight stay. Would look forward to staying overnight again, once the rooms are refurbished."
Excellant Parking facilities and Grounds. Impressive reception area and booking in facilities. Good restaurant & Bar. Excellant Breakfast and service.
Non smoking room smelt of stale tabacco. Decor was tired and dowdy. Furniture was cluttered. TV reception was poor on old type TV equipment. Room required the services of an interior designer to bring it up to present day standards to provide the Guest with bright, airy and inviting rooms. I travel extensivly in the USA and have come to expect this level of room finishes even in the most modestly priced hotels.
from Nottingham UK, stayed on February 17, 2009
"Ok "
The room was clean
There was no night room service and I was not told there was no weekend room service for our breakfast.

"I would give this hotel 7 out of 10 because of the above points but if it wasn't for these points I would give it top marks."
Reception Staff very friendly, hotel very clean, Good breakfast buffet selection
Room was very, VERY cold. Colder than outside. It hit you as you walked in from the corrodor. Having stayed in different hotel classes this was surprising. Even when heater was on for a number of hours we had to wrap up warm. Also there was no need for the bacon in the buffet to be six inches deep in liquid grease and the chef can't make scrambled eggs,
from Newcastle upon tyne UK, stayed on January 31, 2009
Very convenient off M1 and yet not bogged down in the City Centre. Good sized room and generally good value for money, security patrolled car park.
Bar a little pricy. Annoying Radio Trent played too loud in the restaurant making it like a transport cafe at breakfast.
from Great dunmow UK, stayed on December 3, 2008
this hotel is also a wedding/event centre, and on the night i stayed there was a rather noisy event in the hotel, this wasnt the main problem though, it was that my room was directly above the disco area, and after asking to be moved mainly due to the walls vibrating so much i couldnt even sit on the bed in peace, i was told by the reception staff that it would stop after about 7.30 so there was no point in moving me.....sadly it didnt stop until around 1am, so a good nights sleep was certainly not had by all. Dont have an issue with there bring an event on etc but a bit of warning and the truth from the staff would have made it more bearable!

"I dont think we would stay at this hotel again. I certainly would not recommend this hotel."
The accommodation was nice
We were put directly above a function/DJ, extremely noisy and we were unable to sleep or even listen to the TV. In fact the music was louder than if we had the radio on in our room! The quality of the food in the restuarant for evening meals and breakfast was below expectation.

"Disappointed."
Hotel was unclean, Staff were unmotivated, Room was unclean, Bathroom was dirty and shower was boken.

The hotel is in a good position, close to the M1. The rooms are spacious and clean and have all the facilities a business traveller requires. The restaurant provides a good selection of food in the evening inluding a carvery and an A La Carte menu.
Breakfast is buffet style and some of the food is only luke warm. It all depends on the turn over.

"good"
all staff friendly and helpful
hard to find for first time. bathroon needs attention
from Hampshire UK, stayed on October 23, 2008
I phoned before arrival and was greeted by a friendly and efficient voice. The young lady was very helpful and welcoming. The same lady booked me in and again was efficient and welcoming. The room itself was large warm and very good value for money. I had clearly been upgraded.
Lots of cables scattered around the room and none of the bed side lamps worked. The duty manager tried hard to correct the problem but had to resort to a temporary fix.

from Chelmsford UK, stayed on September 28, 2008
"Quite good"
Excellent service in the dining room. The maitre d was extremely pleasant.
The carpets in the hall ways are in need of a clean. Some of the staff in the bar were less than attentive.
from Glasgow UK, stayed on September 15, 2008
"The beds requirfe to be renewed, the restaurant menu requires to be renewed as the carvery is the same every time I am there!!"
Internet booking was simple and very swift.
Beds are awful? every time I have stayed at this hotel, the beds have a severe dip in them? Toilet seat was very loose and Television did not work for every channel.

"No problems. Would recomend this Hotel to anyone."
Overall very good. Allowed to book in one hour early that helped us due to having to be at our venue for 15.00pm.
10am is a bit early to vacate your room on a Sunday morning. Although I got the impression that this would not have been a problem if we had asked.
