"We should have been told that an arrival time was required. I would also have liked to know that we would be the only guests. I still don't know whether we would have been welcome to use the downstairs lounge in the evenings I suspect yes is the answer but I didn't ask as it didn't arise. Two room keys for a double room should be the norm but in fact we were not inconvenienced over this. The owner went out of his way to take us to the bus station upon our departure. I did tell him that a wider duvet would have been more acceptable. The TV instructions were adequate but for older people generally a much simpler set of instructions would be better. I asked for bus timetables and was given a lot. A full local map would have been helpful. Details of local attractions were provided but were a few years out of date. I would also liked to have known from the website I used to book it that booking through the website cost more than telephoning!!"
Tha bathroom was very light and it was good to be the only people in the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the rooms werre warm.
The room was quite dark in the daytime and there was no view and no armchair nor any chair. It had no bath. it was small compared to overseas hotel rooms but not compared with other British. The teamaker needed a power point but this was hard to reach and other items had to be unplugged. Not enough table space.

"Suited my purposes very well. Proprietors were happy to provide 6.30 am breakfast on a Saturday for me and the other athletes who were competing locally that morning. Helped with directions, bike storage etc."
Friendly and helpful proprietors; comfortable, spacious, clean rooms; unpretentious.
Room was subject to a little traffic noise and streetlighting from outside. Could do with more soundproofed windows and blackout blinds? Worth remembering that walls are not as soundproof as purpose-built hotels either.

"Room was very sparse. Not value for money."
It was close to my appointment.
The springs on both sides of the bed mattress were broken, therefore felt as if rolling off bed. Did not get a proper sleep.

"Pleasant staff. We were offered a higher grade room at no extra charge. Bed was comfortable, but a bit short for me. The room was adjacent to the road and traffic noise was a nuisance until midnight. Room was very clean and nicely appointed. Breakfast was very good, and just the right size."
Very clean. Comfortable layout. Good breakfast.
Bed too short I'm 6ft 3ins tall. Traffic noise.

"The guesthouse is run by a very friendly and helpful couple, they gave us a warm greeting and they keep the rooms immaculately clean and tidy. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they were pleased to help us arrange taxis and find suitable eating places, etc. It was a pleasure to stay there and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others."

It was in a good location - near the town and station - and a short drive from the forest and Nottingham city. The owners were wonderful and directed us to some lovely pubs and restaurants in the town, as well as suggesting activities in the area.

"I would probably not have booked this accomodation if I had known what the location was like. As a single female traveller I didnt feel safe in the area as it is in a badly lit part of town. If I had been travelling with someone else then it would have been fine. But that is not obviously the fault of the owners - there was no problem with the accomodation itself or the service."
very quiet, clean and well presented, food very good
location for eating out for single traveller

"the room was clean and tidy, staff were polite and helpful.my only real complaint was that the room was on a major road and traffic was busy and very loud both nights."
it was close to the people I was visiting.
on day two they didn't replace beverage sachets or milk or biscuits,so that morning we couldn't have a drink in our room before rising.
