Shower broken but usable, no room temperature control.

"As we only stayed one night we did not use any of the facilities apart from the bedroom and breakfast room. We note that there will be an upgrade of the hotel so rather than say yes or no to another stay at the hotel maybe would be fairer."
The room was a good size and it was warm despite the very cold weather outside. The receptionist was helpful and greeted us warmly.
There was mould around the seal on the bath and evidence of others use at the back of the toilet pan. The mirror in the room was very dusty and dirty.

"If our son gets his place at Loughborough University departmental visit was purpose of our stay and subject to proposed refurbishment being carried out, we would seriously consider booking this hotel again for its convenient location directly across the road from the entrance to the Business Park and School of Engineeering. "
1 Finding the hotel was challenging as the name had changed from Compass Hotel Formerly Quality Hotel to Imago Link Hotel We understand Imago is an offshoot company of the University 2 Staff were welcoming, informative and friendly. 3 Our rooms were spacious and reasonably well furnished 4 Breakfast buffet highlights: locally sourced dairy, saugage and bacon and freshly squeezed juices were the high points 5 Overall, a remarkably tranquil stay given the location and proximity of the dual carriageway we were in rooms at the back of the hotel
1 The hotel was clearly in need of refurbishment - prominent notices around the building made clear this is the first priority of the new owners. 2Any movement of people or equipment along the corridors was very noisey - creaking and springy floorboards and loud footfalls. 3 Room decor was tired and dated 4 A mini bar / fridge to keep our water chilled and a small supply of tissues in the bathroom or bedroom would have been appreciated 5 Breakfast buffet disappointments: scrambled eggs were watery poached or fried eggs might have 'kept' better on the hotplate, a wider choice of breakfast fruits apple, prunes, figs? would have been a welcome alternative to the orange and grapefruit segments.

"Terrible"
Staff were really friendly.
I got bitten when in the bed, i ended up spending the night on the chair. Next morning I went down for breakfast, I went to sit along the wall long chair and to be honest it was filthy. I eventually sat at a round table for 6 when I put my breakfast down I noticed something move. I then lifted my plate and there were ants on the table. The manager came over and did say she had a problem with ants. To be honest when i went back to the room I folded back the bed covers and there was a black mark and little black things in the bed. I still have the bite marks on my bottom and hand. In my view the hotel should be closed down until refurbishment is complete because I would not go back to the hotel.

"The hotel served its purpose but I would not return until I was assured that refurbishments had been carried out."
Conveniently situated. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast.
Bedrooms and ensuite require immediate refurbishment. Bedrooms and corridor very scruffy. Grouting in bathroom - black. We ordered two cups of tea and thought the price was ridiculously high and not a biscuit in sight!!!

"Very good, A nice Hotel, with helpul staff and at a resonable price. "
The staff I meet were efficient and helpful
Originally the Hotel must have been furbished to a high standard. However, over the years this standard has diminished sumewhat, and now need to be looked at.

Booked the hotel purely to use the leisure facilities only to find on arrival they were shut. The bathroom was filthy - mould around bath. Pubic hair on sink. There was an ANT on the surface by the plates at breakfast. The cooked breakfast was very poor and the croissants unedible dry.

"GOOD"
hotel was run well room was clean and tidy breakfast was good.
it's not a bad point but the female changing rooms in the leisure centre could have done with a clean there were sweet papers and lolly sticks on the floor and there was no one around to give you a towel or not even an obvious "help yourself" stack. But if I need to go to Loughborough again Iwill definitley book a room at the hotel!

Dinner really not very good. You are missing a trick because there is an alternative eating very close. Bring the bar area and dinner facilities up to scratch and you will get more clients.

"Staff were pleasant. Room ok. Breakfast was good. Generally, the fabric and structure of the building appeared to be run down. Soe investment required to bring it up to an acceptable standard."
Ease of booking Low cost Breakfast
Room fixture and fittings had seen better days Electric wall heater - potential fire hazard - mounted on wall under curtains. No cable TV Carpets in hallway jointed with black tape Swimming pool very grotty

"Painless stay with everything I needed, including a good nights sleep."
Value for money, cleanliness and not too busy.
Room service menu had very limited choice there wasn't even a menu in the room. Bathroom was in need of sprucing up but did function perfectly well.

"Apart from needing to sort out the retaurant with food similar to a naafi canteen in the dining room I would say the standard was not much better than a two star!!! This tired hotel needs a complete overhall!!"
Spacious room, reasonably comfortable bed, staff pleasant
The only problems I found were in the restaurant at breakfast time. It is all very well having self service but the toaster needs to work! the selection was very limited and in fact I did not receive a cooked breakfast on my leaving morning as the chef never turned up!!!! Small point, the television in the room was ancient and very small with a poor picture reception and choice of stations!!

"I needed a place to stay whilst visiting a friend who lived near by. I was very surprised by the price as I had paid £79 for one night in a Holiday Inn near Cantebury. The Compass Hotel was £80 for TWO nights and if anything I would say that the compass hotel was a much nicer hotel as well."
The room was clean and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. They do excellent breakfasts! I found the bed to be very comfortable. The air conditioning was very efficient as well.
There was a drip from the pipe underneath the sink but it was very small and they were grateful when I mentioned it on checkout.

"Certainly not worth the £110 we paid for two nights and the hotel was not presented as advertised. A local taxi driver informed us that it was in administration. If that was the case it either shouldn't be trading or should be offering guests a significantly reduced rate for the poor service it was offering. Personally, I have stayed in travel inns that look and feel far superior to this hotel and are cheaper. Overall, the hotel was the most disappointing aspect of an otherwise brilliant two days spent as part of a friend's wedding party. I will think twice before staying in any compass group hotel in the future and the only thing that would necessitate it would be a lack of other options."
Easy to park and find.
Hotel was in need of complete makeover. Walls had strips of wallpaper missing, pen marks and various other marks. Carpet was ill fitting and large rips had been "fixed" with electrical tape. Strip lights in the corridors were cracked or broken and the corridors seemed to have a permanent musty smell. External areas were dirty and there was a pile of cigarette butts outside of our bedroom window. Hotel seemed to be operating at minimal staff and the bar was closed both evenings when we returned back just before midnight. At breakfast the staff were slow and each morning we had to request tea and coffee rather than someone attending our table.

"For the money I paid I feel that I have been ripped-off. The hotel did not live up the expectations I had been given at the time of booking. I will not be staying in a Compass hotel again in the future."
I can't think of too many, to be honest.
The hotel was in a bad state of repair wallpaper peeling off and carpets held together with tape, mouldy bathrooms, even though the website advertised it as "newly refurbished"; there were no playstations as advertised; food and service left a lot to be desired; the pool facilities were uninspiring.

"Excellent, very pleasant stay, staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble."
Excellent and friendly staff, breakfast good. We were especially pleased to be able to bring our small dog. Not many hotels will allow this. Enjoyed the swimming pool.
We would have liked to have daily newspapers as there was no shops in the vicinity. The television would have been better if placed higher up on the wall.

Fire alarm went off at 5.55 a.m. No fire! No movies. Breakfast was disappointing, only one waitress to serve evryone, ordered tea got coffee, no bread for toast & all hot breakfast had been out for a long time & picked over. Took 40 mins to get tea & poached egg!

cleanliness of room + good location/easy to find/plenty of parking, plenty of helpful & friendly staff

"Overall, a decent hotel that provided value for money. Worth putting on the favourites list for any future stays. Better on price than any of the other locally based chain hotels."
Spacious, immaculately clean double room. Comfortable bed. Decent place for an overnight stay - £40 for a double room for one person plus breakfast was ideally priced.
Scrambled egg for breakfast was slightly crunchy around the edges - maybe cycling trays of food at shorter intervals would avoid drying out under the lights. No other problems to speak of! Visitorwise an adequate breakfast.
