"Really enjoyed it- hotel was lovely, good value for money, rooms very warm and cosy- we would definitely stay again."

Excellent reception staff- very friendly and efficient.

breakfast staff on the Monday morning- only one lady who was rushed off her feet and therefore a little bit short on friendliness, also the breakfast room was extremely cold- apparently the heating was on a timer and couldn't be overridden although the previous night when we had eaten in the same restaurant the manager was able to put the heating on for us

"Adequate for a weekend break, but overall we found it a rather impersonal place."

Comfortable room. Good breakfast with cheerful waitress.

Room not made up when we got back from day out and it took a littl persuasion to get it done there and then.

"Good value for money, Great service"

Excellent Service / Decor has improved

Basin was still old fashioned type / Room smelled musty - had to sleep with window open.

Lovely big room with excellent bathroom and comfy bed.

On booking the info on wifi was wrong if travelling for business this could have cost you the booking. Free wifi needs to be advertised.

"We had gone to attend the English Mystery Plays at Breton Priory and only picked this hoitel because it was handy. We had no expectations apart from expecting the usual impersonal chain hotel. But the experience was quite different. The staff made our stay and added to the weekend which was a very memorable one as the Mystery Play Cycle was wonderful as well."

The staff in every area were just so helpful and obliging and very professional. The dining room staff are a credit to the Dining Room Manager

"As you can see, I stay in hotels a great deal! I often use the internet to make bookings I found you using Smoothhound, which is my preferred accommodation website. I look forward to staying at the hotel again. Next time I will arrange to spend more time and use the leisure facilities. However, unless the prices and range of food improve, I shall probably not eat in the hotel, in spite of the high quality and substantial quantity of the food provided."

Clean, tidy, quiet - in spite of the parties in progress! Food was nice, both dinner and breakfast. We took dinner in the restaurant from the 'bar meal' menu, as we were not very hungry, and the staff were quite courteous about it - which is what I expect. The wine was very good and served at the correct temperature.

The reataurant menues provided seemed to be incomplete, and appeared to have several pages missing. At £28 the table de hote was rather expensive, and thus the main a la carte menu was expensive, which partly pushed us to the bar menu. No real soap.

Swimming pool and gym were a really nice facility, and especailly the steam room and jacquozi. There was a good atmosphere in the bar and the free pub quiz was a really nice surprise.

"Was great for what we wanted"

good facilities and some helpful staff

would have liked to have known that a wedding was on that day as the party took up all of the chairs and tables in the lounge whilst their room was made ready. So we could not sit and enjoy the bar.

"I couldnt charge to my room key, the information hadnt been inputted into the system which was slightly embarrassing when i tried to buy drinks. I think no flowers are better than fake flowers but that's just two minor things, all in all its a nice place, with caring staff, with peaceful rooms and good food. There is also a nice pub/restaurant opposite called the Pheasant serving american sized portions!!!"

It was fine, everything was adequate except maybe a good sauv blanc in the bar would have been nice. Staff very friendly, very quite and peaceful surroundings next to a crematorium!!

The piped music, same music all the time.. pan pipes!!! And the sausages at breakfast = I am originally from the area and you can get really good sausages locally, the ones they use are'nt nice. Everything else foodwise was fine.

"It was easy to book the hotel and when I git there the staff were heplful and kind. It was a pleasure to stay there and I just wish that I had remembered to bring some clothes to wear in the gym and then I could have done a bit of exercise before I went out to sample the delights of barnsley. I'd stay there again without hesitation if I was in the local area again."

The helpfulness of the staff and the proximity to the city.

    Nothing at all.

"The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The leisure facilities are very good and were quiet too which made swimming in particular more enjoyable. On the negative side, the bar prices were over inflated 3 tonic waters and half a lager costing "

Room was clean and comfortable and very quiet.

Although we were moved to a different room our initial room was very smoky despite being a non-smoking room.

"We have stayed at Ardsley House on several previous occasions. We have always found the staff pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is always good and the dining staff very friendly. Personally I am pleased that the smoking ban is in operation but perhaps you should provide bins at the entrance to the hotel as many people just seem to drop their cigarette butts on the floor, making for a very untidy approach."

Both rooms 1single. 1 doublevery clean with comfortable beds and good facilities.

"Room small and old fashioned. Staff were helpful and courteous. Beautiful garden and excellent dinner but the breakfast left a lot to be desired - freshly cooked food might be a start!"

the views from the dining room and the evening meal was excellent.

The breakfast was awful - the food was obviously kept hot on a hotplate therefore the bacon was rubbery, the egg was hard, the sausage warm - generally not good. Blankets - prefer duvets. Could not look the door with the chain as it did not work.
