"Convenient location, which was important. Enjoyable stay in general."

When I complained about the noise from air conditioning ducts outside the window I was transferred immediately to another room where the noise was not so loud. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff.

Whole building had a generally run down appearance and a stale smell. The mouse Michael the mouse running across the floor in the breakfast room was cute, but perhaps not the best for hygiene. Hotel rather expensive.

"Excellent. A definite improvement over the last time we stayed in this hotel about 2 years ago."

We were upgraded to a suite. We had to return to the hotel for a further night and were given a room at the same reduced price. The staff were very efficient and friendly.

The maintenance was was a bit lacking, but probably because other guests had failed to report things.

    "great,above bad points trivial."

    "Nice relaxing break."

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel clean and appealing. Breakfast was most enjoyable.

There were no toiletries in the room, although it was stated that there should have been on the itinary. The noise from the vents was very annoying. Also if the gate hadn't been pulled across on the old-fashioned lift you had no choice but to use the stairs.

"Location was nice. Hotel nicely decorated. At least the windows opened."

There was a particularly nice server in the bar who was kind, generous of her time and informative. I can't remember her name but she was Polish.

I needed some assistance in using the TV and air con in the room. I eventually got the necessary help but it was not quick and I had to eventually go to the reception to get what I needed. One concierge treated me condescendingly- but only the one. I was charged for a full breakfast even though I only had coffee, toast and a scrambled egg.

Close to city centre and entertainment. Friendly staff, Knowledgeable barman! Clean, comfortable room. Reasonably priced including breakfast. Well trained staff and well practiced emergency routines we had two fire drills during our short stay

Upgrade the elevator! Although the old style elevator with the manual internal gate is in keeping with the age and style of the building it is not convenient when you find that another less knowledgeable guest has left the internal gate open at the top floor and you are on the bottom floor! The "booth" style bench seats in the Michael Caines Restaurant do not give you much room for maneouvre - especially if you are no longer the sylph like creature you used to be!

Very nicely decorated room, with first class facilities, and probably one of the best beds I have ever slept in.

It had been used by a smoker, and I specifially requested Non Smoking

"The room was pleasant and the staff very helpful. I was unable to use the main restaurant because it was fully booked for a group, which was disappointing. Might I suggest a less gloomy level of lighting in the cafe bar as people dining on their own often like to read at the table?"

Very comfortable bed and good lighting.

The room and the bathroom were very small. Fine for one night for a single person but it would have been cramped for two.

"We found that the accommadation was just right for us excepting those afore-mentioned things. The staff were extremely helpful and ordered a taxi when I initially arrived and loaned me a plastic bag as it was pouring with rain. They looked after my husband's mobile overnight as he had left it in a taxi. The cafe for breakfast was wonderful, very good service and delicious food even down to the skimmed milk I ordered"

I liked the unusual architecture of the building.I love white cotton sheetsand lovely soap and a bath.

Being on a busy road and the key disappeared down the slot twice!!

Great artsy ambience, wonderful old elevator and curving stairwell with waterwall feature. The room was small but artfully designed, clean and comfortable, with an interesting view of Bath Street. Good, strong shower with tub, always a plus. Pleasant reception though we were not offered any help in finding a restaurant except for suggestions to eat in the hotel. Likewise, no list of restaurants or shopping info was offered with the usual in-room information. We did have lunch in the cafe. Food, service, and atmosphere all top rate. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

A bit of annoying trouble with barking radiator in bathroom. Only one bar of soap that disappeared after the first day. No help in finding local restaurants. No list of restaurants or shopping info in the room.

"Excellent time, beautiful hotel, lovely food and a nice bar in the basement. I would reccomend it."

Great position to enjoy the many bars and resteraunts of Glasgow. lovely building, especially the elevator, yes I'm weird.

No parking, and the fact that the directions say left at the bank of scotland and before you get to the bank of scotland there is a royal bank of scotland, maybe just me being thick but I took the first turning.

"THE DIRECTIONS TO THE HOTEL AS PER THE MAP SUPPLIED WERE NOT DETAILED ENOUGH - I COULD EASILY HAVE WALKED FROM THE RAILWAY STATION HAD THEY BEEN MORE SPECIFIC. IT IS VERY HANDY FOR SHOPS, PUBS AND RESTAURANTS. THE HOTEL ITSELF IS BEAUTIFUL AND THE ROOMS SPACIOUS AND VERY WELL EQUIPPED. ALTHOUGH I ARRIVED TOO LATE FOR DINNER, COLLEAGUES HAVE RECOMMENDED THE MENU - THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST HAD A WIDE SELECTION. THIS WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT HOTEL FOR A WEEKEND CITY CENTRE BREAK."

ROOM WAS VERY SPACIOUS AND STYLISH WITH A SUPER EFFICIENT AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.

THE HOTEL WASN'T WELL KNOWN TO TAXI DRIVERS.

The building is lovely from the outside Staff were nice

The window wouldn't close properly and the noise from outside on Bath St on a Friday night is unbearable. The shower wouldn't heat up There was no running cold water from the sink tap to brush teeth

"I was given a room that accommodates wheelchair users. Whilst this is fine in theory, in practice, the facilities are as difficult for an able-bodied person to use as they are easy for a disabled person. The sink was too small and low, the shower was difficult to use, there was no bath, everything was too low, the door lock was bizarre. The hotel clearly wasn't full so I don't understand why I was given such a room. I had to call to ask for an iron twice, because the first time they forgot. I asked for a taxi to be called and had to check on its wherabouts twice. The second time she said they'll be coming at 9.30 -- she'd mistakenly ordered it for 9.30 when I clearly said 9.15am."

"Upon arriving the check-in was fast and polite and we were placed in our 'comfortable' room on the third floor which was small but tastefully decorated with everything necessary for a nice stay. It was bloody boiling outside the room - the glass roof acts to make the hotel a greenhouse. Every room has air-con but ours started to leak. Upon calling reception I recieved an apology and a room change to a 'desirable' room which is largely the same as the previous room but with a bit more space. Again, there was a problem with the air-con a problem which I was assured was being seen to within the next 48hrs and we were upgraded to an 'enviable' room which again had more space and ~20ft ceilings. The facilities remained largely unchanged again except for the addition of a sofa and a bottle of water! I found the customer service excellent but it was a pity that if this was a known problem they hadn't had the foresight to hire rom fans or warn guests. The finish on the tiles especially in the bathrooms could have been better but they were modern and pleasant nonetheless. If staying here, I advise going to eat at the Michael Caines Restaurant - We went for the set lunch at "

Funky art deco feel to the hotel, excellent customer service, fantastic restaurant.

The finish in the bathrooms especially could have been slightly better.

"Accommodation was good but the room temperature on the top floor on a hot day was excessive. This was componded by the failure of the AC unit during the night. However the hotel staff took very positive action to remedy our problems with a free upgrade to a better room."

The bedroom fit outs are fresh and well styled

The first bedroom on the top floor was quite small and very hot

"Car parking is a problem as the multi-story car park across the road closes between 6.30pm and 7.30am. This leaves on-street parking which although free overnight, means you have to move to a pay bay or car park after 8am. The hotel is centrally located but I was looking for 'ABODE' hotel when its actually signed something else. The en suite room was warm and welcoming with a CD player and Plasma TV, mini bar and 'Tuck Box'. The bed was very comfortable and the service of the staff was excellent. The food in the bistro although cooked well enough was rather small in portion. Will certainly stay here again though maybe eat elsewhere."

Quirky mix of old and new. Very contemporary bar/restaurant and comfortable, modern rooms.

Nothing. The whole experience was a pleasant one
