Superb staff, great attention to detail i.e. water in room etc, good bar food and beer selection, plus WIFI.

"We really enjoyed the hotel. The service was excellent and they have a very nice restaurant."

The Royal Hotel was a very good experience and was located right across from the train, which was a very good point for us. the staff was very accomodating of my need for special handling of medicine that I was carrying with me.

The hotel storage locker for luggage before our check-in was very small and not organized. There was no tracking system to make sure people got the right luggage out.

    "Good, relaxing mid-week break."

    Food, service, convenient location.

Traffic and exterior noise particularly due to the building work going on opposite at the time, poor air quality and stuffy room in rather exceptional weather conditions.

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal. If we were ever able to make it to Bath again we're from the US, we wouldn't hesitate to book our room there again."

Great location, near the train station and a quick walk to the center of town. Very nice rooms, victorian style.

"This hotel offers really good value for money. The decor in our room was in keeping with hthe theme of the hotel. All soft furnishings were attractive, clean and unworn. Plenty of drawers and hanging space. Variety of tea and coffee much appreciated.Hairdrier provided. Bathroom bright clean and modern, bath and shower.Nice toiletries. Excellent breakfast. Bar food a bit disappointing. Would have liked at least some room service, as after a busy day walking around the town and the sights, one does not always feel like going out again. All staff very obliging and friendly."

All clean and attractive, spare pillows etc available. Tea and coffe facilities.Good bathroom.

Bed too soft for my taste. No room service

"For the price, I believe the hotel could be in a better overall state. There were elements of minor repair that were so many added up to quite large and noticeable ones. The hallways and stairwells were in a state, and the door to our room was so flimsy, it could have been kicked through without effort. However, the room itself was of a high standard and provided everything I expected, as did the breakfast and position of the hotel from the centre of Bath. The price of the room considering the negatives should have been a little less than what we paid."

Luxuries of the room and prominant location from town

Cleaner doesn't know how to clean the main communal areas such as corridors and stair wells

"where the room was in the hotel also the reception people could be a litte more friendly"

after the third offer itwas ok

first room was too small hot and noisy right outside a busy station not very good at all but it was clean and tidy

"Relatively cheap & convenient for the city & train station if required. Staff were pleasant. Breakfasts good. Not so good for children if the weather was too bad to get out as no facilities in the hotel itself for samll children."

Close to City Centre, easy to find & parking close by

    Bit shabby

"Room was quiet despite proximity to station. Separate bar for non residents. Quality of food was good both at breakfast and evening meal."

Couple of petty minor niggles - Non working wall sockets, Faulty iron, bath not cleaned properly and soap dispenser holder for shower contained stagnant smelly water

The shower facilities looked a bit poor although they were fine when having a shower.

"I found it rather irritating being asked to pay for my first night up front especially as I had given a credit card number when I booked. Also hotels should be aware that 20% of their guests over 60 will be diabetic as I am. Suitable diabetic cereals and conserves should be provided on the breakfast buffet as a matter of course. Visitorwise I felt the service and accommodation represented good value for money"

comfortable bed and a window that opened. Plenty of choice on the breakfast menu

mineral water and coffee not replenished in my room.

"this hotel is very close to the railway station and provides a baggage storage facility if you wish to arrive and go sight seeing before booking in and likewise when you book out. The town centre is very close and it is possible to undertake sightseeing/ shopping without the need for using taxis or public transport"

comfortable, close to amenities, good entertainment channels on tv

kettle too small, tv was outdated model

"Would definitely use this hotel again. The location was perfect as I was meeting friends for an evening out. Also, it is quite rare for us to be able to find a triple room that has three single beds and when the reception staff realised we were a party of three friends they immediately offered the room with three separate beds rather than a double & single. Parking is not available on the premises, but there is a public car park next door to a police station up the roadm so I was fairly happy that my car would be safe. Parking prices aren't too high either. The hotel isn't the most modern or up-to-date that I have stayed in, but it was clean and comfortable and suited our needs."

Friendly staff, clean accomodation, 3 bed triple rooms, Breakfast was delicious, close to the railway station and city centre

The room was quite cold as the radiator had been switched off, although rooms were all non-smoking the hotel did have quite a strong smell of cigarette smoke from the bar.

we were greeted as old friends and nothing was too much trouble, we could leave our bags at the hotel as we arrived in town too early to check in. likewise, we were able to leave our bags there until we left, several hours after we had to vacate our room. the way in which a double room was transformed into a twin room without any hassle and extra towels were provided without a reminder

over bed reading lights were not strong enough to read with , therefore we had to keep the harsh ceiling lights on and then get out of bed to turn them off.

"On the whole, it was okay, clean central to all amenties, but so stuck in a time warp. If it had a complete overhaul and stopped playing that bloody awfull classical music in the bar then we would consider staying again"

    location great, close to everything

The room, seen better days, and it had no view, so do not book room 111, as this looks straight into next door. Could only see 12 inches of sky line!!

The actual hotel and the history. Spacious room and good service. Central location.

oppressive wallpaper - though it probably was sympathetic to the original design. Shower took a long time to get to luke warm! even got to hot eventually.
