Pleasant well decorated bedroom and bathroom. Friendly staff.

Thin ceiling allowing noise to penetrate from movement in an upper floor.

Very friendly reception staff Helpful cleaning staff

Stoppy porter, who told me to park my car in an inaccessible slot, then got irritable when I couldn't easily reverse it out around other cars he had blocked around it

"A lovely hotel, the staff were very welcoming on arrival. Could not find out from website the cost of breakfast. Thought £13 was quite expensive but the breakfast was good. Overall really happy and will return."

"Overall a very pleasant stay in a very comfortable hotel, where the staff were very obliging. "

The room was very pleasant and we were upgraded possibly due to a wedding in the hotel, however, a very nice surprise. Staff were very good in all parts of the hotel and a very relaxed atmosphere. Location excellent.

"Lovely hotel which suited our needs fully. A short walk to the city main shops / attractions."

Great central location. Nice room. Very comfortable bed - the best ever slept in! Car parking price reasonable and a space was available. Porter also helpful.

Wine prices are expensive as is the Breakfast. Good choice of food though. Buffet style with plentiful hot and cold selection.

The rooms were large in size.

The decor needed a good spruce up. The wallpaper in our room was falling off in places.

"When arriving at the hotel we were greeted by an incredibly rude receptionist who insulted all members of our party. AS young professions, we are all used to having to spend a considerable amount of time in hotels i can honestly say it was the worst service i have ever received. Your receptionist is truly terrible."

the room was clean and the bathroom very acceptable

"having read the other reviews i was a little aprehensive but found the hotel to be lovely. i guess you should take these reviews as a guide only, as a lot of different factors can affect your stay and also some people like to complain just for the sake of it!"

we were given a free upgrade without asking to a 4 poster bed on arrival which was lovely. the receptionist staff were very friendly. the position of the hotel was excellent. although we only stayed the one night the hotel looked after our bags the next day free of charge. would definately recommend and stay again.

the hotel was in the process of being renovated but we didn't hear or see anyone during our stay. the room was a little tired but its a very old building and it did not put us off at all.

"We feel we have made the necessary summary above. However, check in was particularly helpful providing information on locality."

Location, availability of parking, cleanliness, helpfulness of staff

Room and equipment needed updating, but it all worked.

"I have stayed at the Francis several times & have always been satisfied with the services available & the helpfulness of the staff."

A good central location in Bath.

Room was very warm & the air conditioning had little effect.

"Hotel is undergoing much needed renovation. Unfair to make comment whilst work is ongoing. Staff were helpful and friendly, doing their best under the present conditions. I was upgraded to an executive twin room yet still the shower and also the bath taps had faults. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order."

"I did some research before I booked this hotel and I was not disappointed with what I found. There is a lot a history to the hotel itself from it's beginning as houses to the bombings of the 2nd world war. Well done to everyone at the Francis for making our stay wonderful."

The history of the hotel. The magnificence of the hotel. The cleanliness, the friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff. In total just about everything.

I am pleased to say there was nothing that I was dissatisfied with.

    Excellent location.

The hotel could do with a little TLC in places.

Lovely drapes and bedding. Plenty of hot water and good facilities in the bedroom. Very little noise from within the hotel.

Squeaking floorboards - both in our room and the room above us. Quite noisy from outside but this is a main road and was expected.

Very central location. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel has lots of character. Comfortable, clean rooms.

Only small complaints - tv in room was old, small and dodgy reception. The shower head was leaky but still worked.

Rooms were well designed and laid out and we had a lovely view of the square. Given that the hotel was a 2 minute walk into the centre of Bath it was in a lovely quiet area.

Nice room that was different to the mainstream hotel look, very spacious and quirky.

Equipment in the room like the fridge, stereo and TV are old and cheap, all could do with a desperate upgrade.
