"value for money and close to york. very polite and friendly staff. I would stay there again."

    clean and tidy.cooperative staff.

heating was not the best and we were cold more often than not. It is fair to say it was unusually cold and we were hardly in the room for it to be a serious problem.

"A lovely guesthouse with cosy rooms, really close to city centre."

Lovely owners, very helpful on the phone.

Bad tv reception but that's not important.

"The purpose for my stay was achieved and was happy to have affordable accomodation."

Room was cosy and warm. Towels available and use of entertainment. Breakfast was served as promised.

it was very noisy in the early hours of the morning. Load banging at about 06:00 am for both nights i was there. This did not happen last time I stayed there possibly due to fact that I was on the lower floor this time?

"comfortable freindly staff . there was confusion over payment which we thought would be taken out of payment details provided on line, however we was informed that a cash only payment was required in the morning. i would stay at this accomodation again if provided with larger room."

Accomodation was clean, room was very small expected room to be bigger as a double. this may have been due to last minute booking and may have been only room available only suitable for single occupancy really

"The directions we used from their website were great, and we were able to find Homelea very easily. It was a short walk into the city of York which made things easier. It was nice for a short stay at the B & B and it was great to have plenty of Tea and coffee facilities in our room."

Very clean. The owners are very friendly! Nice Welcome on arrival.

The room we had was next to the stairs so we were disturbed through the night.

The price of the room for a central location in the city was excellant. It is only a 10 minute walk to all the attractions and nightlife.

"The staff at Homlea Guest House were very kind and courteous, they even gave us some great advice on some good local pubs in the area. The room was very clean and cheery, everything was in great working order, and all of the furnishings in the bedroom and bathroom looked pratically new! Overall, our stay was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a B&B in the area."

The facilities were very cute, clean, and within easy walking distance of the town attractions.

    Everything was great!

"A good low budget guest house that is ideal for a short stay in York. We took a taxi from the railway station to the guest house on our first day, but on our return home it was easy just to walk to the station. We were lucky that the weather was beautiful for our entire 2 day stay. You are issued with your own key so therefore have 24 hour access which is great!"

Nice clean accommodation, easy to walk into the city centre 10 mins, liked the breakfast served to my room the following day. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Pillows were rather lumpy, probably are due to be replaced, and the credit card machine didn't work and we were not advised of this until we came to pay, which would have been a disaster had we not had enough cash on us to pay. This problem should really be addressed by the owner as I would imagine that most people would prefer not to carry around a lot of cash! However, these were minor problems that would not put me off from staying at Homelea in the future.

Contact prior to arrival good. Friendly when there.

The bed very noisy wakes you up as you move in your sleep. Toilet unsecure had to be very careful. TV very poor almost not viewable.

A very clean and tidy guest house. The breakfast supplied to your room is adequate to start your day and the couple running it were very friendly. With just a short walk from city ideal for a tourist holiday base.

"The room and shower were very clean, which made me feel very confortable. Breakfast was ok, but should be improved with fresh bread and not the exact same thing every day. An iron and ironing board are available, always a good tip! This accomodation is fine for very busy people but the lack of common areas and many stairs might put off some travellers."

The cleanliness of the room and friendliness of the staff were very appreciated.

Breakfast could and should be improved and possibly the stock of the shower gel samplers.

"A well run Guest House with very friendly people"

Very comfortable apart from the futon and lovely and clean

Possibly a thicker futon mattress. Would be OK fo r a child but my daughter aged 23 found it a little hard and uncomfortable, but it would not put us off staying again.

"Overall we were satisfied with our room, it was clean and warm. The nearness to the towncentre we found very good as well and we enjoyed our stay."

The friendly reception and the cosy room

The breakfast as this we found to be very poor, we had expected at least some fresh rolls beside the croissants. Also we were not impressed by the bed as it creaked by every turn and kept us awake.

"As above cannot really fault the accommodation or the couple that run the Guest House. Ideal place for people who are independant and don't like to be restricted by times to be able to come and go from their room. There was adequate information regarding attractions in York and clear instructions for safty regulations etc. The room was perfect, comfortable, very clean and tastefully furnished. Serving breakfast in our room meant that we could get up and dressed in our own time which was really nice and privatee rather than sharing breakfast in a room with people we've never met before. A definate 11 out of 10."

The room we stayed in was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Cannot really fault our stay which was 4 nights. The idea of serving continental breakfast in our room suited us as it meant that we could get up and dressed in our own time. The access in and out of the Guest house was 24hrs so didn't feel tied by time. The couiple that run the guset house lovely and very helpfull. We would not hesitate to stay at Holmlea again.

Perhaps for guests staying longer than one or two nights a slight variation on the breakfast.

very central, to town, race course & station, close to a nice park to walk into York 15 minutes along the river.

The breakfast is a continental type which was o,k, by us others may prefer a cooked breakfast.
