"Very nice, enjoyed the stay, would stay again but next time i'll bring earplugs."
Nice room, fairly clean.
Hotel was overall looking tired, damage not repaired and needed a lick of paint but the rooms weren't too bad and it was good for the money paid. Also they has a nightclub attatched and obvioulsly very loud till about 5 am.

"I would put up with the problems encountered because of the central position of the Hotel and the very reasonable price of the room."
Value for money.
Lights were not all working in room. Door to room was insecure. Bathroom window would not close. Carpets could do with cleaning. Lift was rather antiquated and smelly.

"Excellent value only £30 per room one-night stop-over. If you just need a place to sleep, it would be difficult to fault this basic but comfortable hotel. Newly refurbished and spacious bedrooms with stylish new bathrooms are good quality and clean. Tea & coffee making, & toiletries were unexpected surprises too at this level."
Extremely good value, especially for such a centrally located hotel. Newly refurbished rooms and new bathrooms excellent quality and cleanliness. Bed enormous, though hard mattress. Restaurant staff b'fast very good helpful and attentive. Bar staff OK too.
Common parts, exterior, entrance, lift, corridors to rooms, etc all nee to be refurbished or at least decorated and brightened up. Car parking a bit tight. Breakfast not great, no selection for continental b'fast - deliveries hadn't arrived, apparently, which is not an acceptable excuse. Reception young man could do with some training on greeting guests. He was efficient but didn't smile and hardly spoke a word, which made me feel a bit unwelcome, although later he was helpful in giving directions.

"Adequate for the cost, but not especially pleasant."
Easy to get to, SOME staff were friendly and helpful and the service in the restaurant was good.
Some members of staff particularly man on reception when checking in was somewhat short and patronising. My main issue however was the behaviour of other guests though, who were rude and as the result of drinking too much extremely noisy.

"Not a refreshing break by any means."
Comfortable room Easy Reach to centre of town
No dining facility in the evening because of function being held Excessive noise till 3am from drunken passers by. Early morning loud noise by bin lorries. Not a lot of sleep overall during our stay

"Overall the hotel suited my needs as it was close to the city centre, provided good food and drink and the room was spacious but did have some fundemental problems, such as the window wouldnt shut properly and the bed seemed to be 2 single beds pushed together. the staff were friendly and helpfull with the information and the hotel was quiet on a night."
The room was very spacious and overall very clean! the staff were friendly and helpfull. the accomodation was in a good location close to the city centre good food provided on site at a good price
The bed was rather uncomfortable and 1 of the windows wouldnt shut properly so let in alot of outside noise and cold there was no clock in the room and the tv had a poor signal for some of the channels the hallways seemed dirty and old there wasnt enough car parking space

"First impressions were good nice lobby, helpful staff. Im afraid the rest of my experience's were not so good, the standard of the rooms is very poor, possibly the least well maintained hotel i have stayed in. Dont bother with breakfast, could not tell the difference between the tea and coffee. One saving grace was the staff, very friendly and helpful."
The staff were helpful
The room was awful, falling apart, noisy, dirty, poorly maintained.

beds were fairly comfortable
twin rooms were very cramped. we had to cahange rooms as the first room windows were screwed shut, the second rooms window would open slightly, but with a great deal of diffuculty. the waste plugs for the sink and bath did not work. tea and coffee had not been topped up so we had to ask before it was possible to make tea on our arrival. the other people in our party had similar problems, and also had to be offered another room.

"I think this hotel is ideal for singel working men of whom there seemed to be several but for a 70 year old woman on family business it was only suitable because of it's location.I would add that I have travelled very extensively around the world. Come on Britain - you can do better."
The room was large and pleasant but overlooked an outsite pub area and the noise was horrendous
My hostess tray was never cleaned or replenished except once after 3 requests
from Welwyn UK, stayed on October 9, 2007
The first room I was put in was so noisy I was asked to be moved .. At 5pm in the afternoon you do not expect to hear loud music coming from a bar nearby.. Even though I was away from the noise it could clearly be heard until 4am. My room I was put moved into although large was shabby. At 5.30am I was awaken by the fire alarm and given no explanation as to why it had gone off. Breakfast was uneventful. I could not leave quick enough tired, worn out, and irritated - on the verge of asking for my money back.

"Good value for money for a city centre hotel. It did what is says on the can!"
The staff in particular the young man who checked us in were extremely helpful and pleasant.
Could not open the windows
from Petersfield UK, stayed on June 23, 2007
"There were two missing lights i.e bulbs or tubes gone, one in the bath room over the mirror and one over a bed. Also the shower base tended to fill up as soon as the shower started. Nothing happened about these items during my three day stay though they were put in the maintenance log at reception. In the end I removed the tube and bulb aka lamps in electrical circles, as a small part of my job involves lamping up passenger cabins on ferries, and took them down to reception. Visitor than that I found the staff very helpful."
The view
Lack of maintenance in room
stayed on April 24, 2007
Spaciousness - very generous bathroom facilities.
Good rather than 'excellent' above because: Central heating far too much! - unable to reduce. Windows massively heavy - unable to use the vertical hinge in R304, while the horozontal hinge seemed delicate, which was a touch unnerving. Three 'at table' chairs perhaps excessive - one might usefully have been a 'relaxing' chair.

"I would like to know how far a particular hotel was from a particular reference point e.g. Station. This is best shown as a pop up map showing the reference location or locations and each of the hotels surrounding them. It makes it easier to decide if this is how I am going to book a hotel."
Close To Railway and least expensive
Hard to locate Hotel, Window didn't close properly, night staff not that helpful.

"Aware that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, it needs it. There was very little info in room as regards Hotel facilities and none about the local area."
Convenient for city centre
Room was far too hot - couldn't turn down the radiator, the window wasn't easy to work. No remote for TV.

"only down point was that you needed a car parking permit and it was upto me to discover this, I wasn't informed on arrival. I was lucky in that I saw the small sign but many cars had been clamped the following morning - staff should ask the guests if they have arrived by car"
good value for money - I have paid twice this price for similar rooms

The matress was the best thing, very comfortable.
There were hairs in the shower wall, not enough toilet paper and no milk in the tea-making facilities. The lift was horrendous, although there was a sign stating it was under renovation.

"THE HOTEL WAS DISGRACEFUL."
Nothing
TV DID NOT WORK, EXTREMELY STRONG SMELL OF SMOKE HAVING ASKED FOR NONE SMOKING, GRAFTI ON THE WALLS, WALLPAPER HANGINH OFF, HEAD BOARD HANGING OFF, BROKEN WARDROBE, AND GENERALY DIRTY.

"The hotel seemed practically empty. On the first night I was the only person in the restaurant and the second night there were only 2 other tables. The food in the restaurant was rather mundane - Prawn Cocktail and roasts or steak and it was virtually the same the second night."
The hotel was in the centre of the city so I was able to walk to everywhere I needed to go.
The decor was rather old fashioned but it was being updated. When I arrived the lift didn't work so I had to climb 3 flights of stairs. However, it was repaired by the end of the next day.
