"A lovely place to stay which was overshadowed by a horrendous dining experience including eyelashes in food, wine that wasn't opened, courses the wrong way round etc."
Lovely rooms Good service on check in and check out
Terrible eating experience. Poor restaurant service. Awful catastrophe of errors over dinner.

"Very good."
Very relaxing, nothing too much trouble.
Breakfast could have been better, food and service. Quite slow, taste of food average and not hot enough.

"Our stay at The Grovesnor was a special treat for us as we haven't had a night away by ourselves since marrying two years ago. I would like to compliment everyone for making our stay very enjoyable the staff were friendly, professional and appeared to enjoy their work. The food in The Brassirier was absolutely fantastic and of high standard. Overall a very pleasant stay and we will come to stay again."
The room was nicely decorated' very clean and spacious. The staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome from the concierge to the waiters and waitress'
The room was a little to cool and unable to work the thermostast in the room but didn't find this a major problem.

"The emphasis on asking for money with regard to any service spoilt the experience as it ruins the excellent ambience and feeling of the experince. It smacks of commercialism above service. Extras should be included in the charge even to a drink in the library. This would crate a very positive feeling with regard to the Hotel and would ensure further visits."
The overall service of the staff, they were polite and attentive. the food was excellent.Breakfast in particular was wonderful.
The fact that we were asked to pay extra money at every opportunity. In a hotel at this standard it should not be necessary to have to pay for a morning cup of tea for example.

Very nice room. Excellent, friendly staff. Great location for town centre shopping & eating.
Shower was poor in bathroom - very low pressure of water. No tea or coffee making facilities in room.

The room was excellent and the facilities was great., also it is in a fantastic location.
The receptionist was rude and aragant, she didnt make us feel welcome. I did not like the way she kept asking if this is the hotel we want to stay in because she thought we deserved to stay in a less star hotel, cheek.

"We chose to access the Grosvenor via the front entrance, this was a very easily signed route and the concierge quickly parked our vehicle and every need was met by the very welcoming staff. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly. The check in procedure was excellent and we even recieved a room upgrade.. All fascilities including room service was good. Quality of room very nice. We enjoyed the brasserie resteraunt very much. A beautiful place to stay. Felt very relaxed and would love to return."

"The last night of our holiday and we splashed out on a more expensive hotel than we normally can afford. We've seen how the other lives and would like to join, if only we could afford it on a regular basis!!"
The best hotel we have ever stayed at.

"this hotel is first class, i never have any luck when booking a hotel for an overnight stay, but this hotel made me feel like a queen for the day, the rooms are lovely the bathroom is spotless, if you want you can have your bed turned down for the night, the hotel is in the centre of the town centre, thought we didnt no how to get to the carpark the hotel will park your car for you, and on the day you leave they will either bring your car to the front of you hotel or you can ask if you can get it yourself, good choice of breakfast, there is no smoking in the bedrooms but on the first floor there is a smoking area, check in was quick, all the staff in this hotel where very helpfull and polite at all time, if you are wishing for a hotel that has class then this is the hotel for you, this hotel is "

"The hotel overall was quite beautiful and you knew from the moment you entered, that you were in five star luxuary. The location was excellent but was a bit difficult to find."
The overall cleanliness was excellent. The decor of the room was lovely and the bathroom was first class.
The room was a bit on the small side and it was strange not to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

"The Hotel was very grand and luxurious, quiet, reserved, I felt relaxed and pampered just by the surroundings. We had a classical room which with it's high ceilings, decor and doors to separate areas felt like I was in a suite, Really enjoyable stay"

"The hotel is very comfortable and well equipped and seems to be popular with Americains staying for a few nights. The breakfast was lovely. If you are travelling on your own, it would be nice to know that housekeeping come to turn down the bed, you have to ask for a hospitality tray and the papers are left hanging on the bedroom door... all reasons to have to open the door..presumably though bad experience assume you are going to take everything from the mini-bar without saying so go for full authorisation on your credit card!!!"
Comfortable and well equiped room, reasonable temperature adjustment and quiet
Not particularly single female friendly..

"The staff were very attentive and courteous, the hotel was very relaxing, the only slight criticism is of the Arkle Restaurant which was unable to cater too well for my wife's vegetarian diet, as she also has a cream allergy and the only meal they could offer was sea bass and steamed vegetables, which she felt was very bland, the tomato based sauce she had suggested to accompany it never materialized, although, we have to say the rest of the meal was excellent!"
It was very clean and compact without being too small, disappointed that there were no tea making facilities in the room though!

"We didn't know Chester at all, so trying to find the hotel was a little difficult. We didn't know about having to report to the gatehouse in the centre of the town in order to reach the hotel. Once we got to the hotel, however, the service was excellent."
Room was very clean and well decorated.

"The hotel itself is excellent, very extravagant and the customer service from staff is second to none. A little pricey but what do you expect from the chester grosvenor. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The accomadation was very luxurious and spacious. The service from the staff was exceptional.
It would have been useful to know in advance that they pre-authorise your credit/debit card in the amount of £200 when you arrive, this is for room service, not the actual room booking. When you check out it takes a few days for this to be reversed at your bank.

Central Location
from York United Kingdom;UK, stayed on October 23, 2005
"The hotel is perfectly placed for the sights of Chester-on the main street. Unfortunately this means, being the society we seem to be in today, there is some noise from youngsters who have been out drinking late at night. This is in no way the fault of the hotel,it is the fact of being central coupled with the UK drinking culture! We have nothing but praise for the Grosvenor and would stay there again. It is worth being cheeky and asking for an upgrade-it seemed the hotel wasn't very full Oct midweek,so we got one!"
The room and facilities were excellent- we were upgraded as it was our anniversary.La Brasserie is recommended for an evening meal.Staff were attentive but not obtrusive.

"Very good"
Food, room, service
Only negative was the fact there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which meant you had to order this and pay for it. It should be included in the price of the room if tea/coffee making facilities are not present!
