"I did enjoy the stay and the hotel was nice. I would recommend it to other people"

It was good value for money, in a perfect location and the facilities were good.

The shower in the room was broken and the staff at breakfast were a bit short with us when they got the food order wrong.

"enjoyable stay ,although no receipt given when settling bill by paying cash."

good friendly staff, close to city centre, good value for money.

entry system through public bar makes access to rooms vunerable, guest entrance signed to entry through bar.although near to city centre access is through isolated underpass which could prove vunerable.hotel car park is difficult to find

"Despite the negative points we had a good stay."

Food/breakfast and the service was excellent. Bar service was good. Location is very good- handy to railroad and downtown. Price is reasonable.

Phone system did not work. Room and furniture needs updating. No internet.

"Not a luxury holiday - but didn't pay luxury prices!"

Staff were friendly and helpful, went out of their way to meet my needs. Food was excellent and plentiful.

facilities were old, blankets instead of duvets, water in shower took ages to run hot etc... however I understand that the hotel is under new mnanagemet and rooms gradually being improved. Parking was minimal and tricky!

Clean; easy to find; good breakfast

kettle leaked; plumbing questionnable toilet failed to flush even after "repair"; no hot water for shower after 11pm and were not even forewarned of this

"Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay and very convenient for city centre. Suspect facilities will improve when building renovations complete."

Comfortable room and nicely appointed restaurant. Very helpful staff.

Car park was closed due to building works in the hotel. Had to park in station car park. tea/coffee at breakfast was self-service at a machine which produced inferior coffee.

"This is a very nice little hotel near the railway station and not far from the Walls. The short walk of about 8 blocks into the city is pleasant. The hotel offers a very nice full breakfast and there are a Thai and Indian restaurant right next door and across the street. The hotel also offers a dinner that I did not take advantage of during my 2-day stay. My top floor room overlooked the canal, which I really liked. Canal boats silently went by on occasion. The room was spacious and the private bath with shower only was very good. After I complained about the slamming fire door right next to my room, the next night I slept very peacefully. I'd give this hotel 7 stars out of 10."

I liked the closeness to the city without having to pay the high price of the hotels inside the walls.

I disliked the fact that the hotel was still updating and remodeling. The elevator was not working nor were the phones.

"It is not appropriate to offer a hotel for accomodation when it was undergoing refurbishment."

    Staff were helpful

It was undergoing extensive refurbishment. That should have been flagged when it was booked or you should offer a reduction in price

"the hotel was very clean and the reception was very efficient, with a prompt checking in service. there is suitable parking at the rear of the hotel which was quite secure. the hotel itself had a very family orientated atmosphere and overall we felt the experiance pleasurable and would stay again."

The hotel is situated in a very good location. only a couple of minutes walk away from main shopping area.

The bathroom shower could have been better as only trickles of water came out. only shampoo was provided.

Short walking distance into town center. Some fairly good restaurants adjacent. Shower room /Toilet appeared new and well laid out.

Double bed cramped into space for it, leaving very narrow access one side. Limited Parking available. The Management readily stated they will reimburse any parking charges necessary locally, so it is not a major issue but worth noting.

Staff members were all very friendly, helpful & cheerful Own room clean & tidy. Breakfast was plentiful, tasty & freshly cooked.

Diningroom floor extremely dirty. Bathroom strongly smelled of damp. Bed uncomfortable. Insufficient parking space, not even accessible after 9pm Previous guest had left underwear in room.

"The hotel is need of major refurb. I asked for a twin room, and was given a double. I think I would have preferred a shower cubicle instead of a bath with a shower in it. My husband had to kneel down in order to get under the shower."

We could tell that the proprietor was very keen to please. We got the feeling that the hotel was being done up.

The shower did not work properly. The mattress was dirty, there were stains on the carpet. The wardrobe was very small.

"All the staff we met were very friendly and welcoming. Not many places in England the receptionist will help you park then carry one of your bags up to your room. Although the TV reception was poor we didn't spend the night in so no problem for us. The shower over the bath was disappointing though - took ages to get a reasonable temperature then gave up. Location was good and the room was quiet, 5-10 mins walk to center along the canal with off street parking the on street parking was all full."

Very helpfull & welcoming staff, location and full cooked breakfast included a lovely vegetarian option.

TV reception was poor and difficult to get good temperature in the shower.

    Convenient location

The shower - no temperature control - it was either roasting hot, freezing cold and twice there was no water at all.
