"An unusual venue with efficient/proprieter and nice rooms"

Clean spacious rooms Good Shower lots of hot water and water pressure. Nice continental breakfast with lots of choice.

the public rooms were rather cold therefore not very cosy. We weren't happy not to have tea and coffee in our rooms but to have to buy it from a machine in the foyer.

"A comfortable one night stay on the way home from Cornwall"

Pleasant welcome. Interesting building Comfortable room Excellent food

Only reservation was the quality of lighting in the room - too dark to read comfortably.

The hosts of the hotel were wonderful, greeting was personal

The food was a bit pricey. The bed was very old, hard and creaky. Very little sleep was had unfortunately.

"It was a shame that there were not more people about, you felt you had to wisper as it was so quite. We would not eat dinner there as the prices were quite high. The breakfast was fair value."

    Price, clean, pleasant owner.

The hotel is in need of a refurbishment, and would benefit from more customers, it was very quite and had very little "life" about it. The rooms had a "shake & Vac" smell to it. No tea making in room.

"Very good & would be happy to revisit."

Hotel's atmosphere, very welcoming and acomodating. Good food, and comfortable room. Good location, and good value for money.

None of significance. To be picky, always nice to have a clock in room for time visibility @ night.

"We were busy with our work but apart from the tea/coffee gripe an excellent place to stay."

Nice quiet rural location, excellent menu with proper home-cooked food not the frozen platters micro-waved to order of the chain hotels.

No tea-making facilities, who wants to trek to a tea/coffee machine in the lobby at 6.30 - 7.00pm. Sorry but they must get this sorted !!!

    "Enjoyable and comfortable!"

Beautiful building - beautiful surroundings - First Class Continental breakfast! Lovely friendly Landlady!

Would have liked tea and coffee facilities in room. Shower took a long time to warm up - but then it was fine.

"A pleasant experience. A family-run hotel which makes a nice contrast with the large hotel chains. Also the rural location in lovely countryside., The breakfast buffet had good choices on offer."

Pleasant staff and an interesting building. Traditional furnishings - no formica and plastic, and stunning views from the bedroom window across the countryside.

Check in time from 5-0 p.m. Room to be vacated by at 10.0 a.m. These times could be more convenient, especially the vacation of the room.

A really nice hotel, attentive owners and a very tasty homemade pie for dinner - good value for money. I would definitely recommend to others.

"Adequate for our needs but disapointing, I was expecting a beautifully restored old building and good quality food. The restaraunt food was very expensive and after the breakfast I'm glad I didn't try eating at the hotel."

owners were friendly, spectacular views from hotel and situated in scenic area.

breakfast was the worst continental breakfast I've ever experienced, limited choice of poor quality food. The room was out dated and felt damp. No tea/coffee making facilities in room but did supply a coffee machine in reception at 50p per cup.

"Overall, warm welcome, nice room, good food, lovely views and excellent free wi-fi!"

    Unusual, interesting venue. Free wi-fi

Toilet did not flush very well and bathroom door did not lock. Bar was not open during our stay, which is a shame, as have stayed there before and the bar is cosy and full of character.

    "Pleasant stay "

Easy to find. Pleasant greeting on arrival, room small but comfortable. Food excellent.

Disappointed that there were no tea / coffee making facilities in the room - I am a restless sleeper and sometimes like a hot drink in the middle of the night. Grouting in shower needs major cleaning / replacing. Only sockets available for laptop meant cable had to go across door to toilet.

"The very welcoming attitude of staff added to the pleasant stay."

A comfortable, friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel. The bedroom was warm and well furnished with all the required equipment - ironing board, TV, safe etc, and the bed was comfortable; the ensuite very tidy and clean.

"The hotel has great potential. It's a shame that the owners seem determined to turn it back into what it used to be, a school with a rule for everything."

Quiet location. Large rooms with garden view.

A little tired and bathroom in particular showing signs of mould, and amateur DIY tiling. Owner could talk hind leg off a donkey. The hotel's terms and conditions are off-putting. No drinks allowed in rooms, corkage for bringing your own soft drinks into the premises. Expensive parking charges for commercials.

"A pleasant place to stay with excellent food and friendly owners. Very obliging."

Flexible approach so that when I needed an early breakfast it was cheerfully and efficiently provided. Food is excellent. although my room was small, this was made clear on booking, and was the reason for it being chealer than the others. The atmosphere is friendly and the building is interesting.

No tea/coffee in the room - although it was available from a machine in the entrance or from the bar, that meant that I had to go down to get it. I'd rather have the refreshments than the toiletries.

"A hotel whose appearance and service deliver what it promises, a restful, quiet and enjoyable visit. Ideally situated for both pleasure and business occasions, in the countryside but close to Swindon to be easily accessible"

"It was adequate for are needs and in the perfect spot for a stop off on our journey. I would consider it to be a guest house rather than a hotel though. "

Looked impressive from the outside, friendly owners. Good location, fairly good tariff. The building had lots of character and this was the advantage it has over a Holiday Inn and the like.

No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The vending machine at 50p a go in the foyer was faulty. Mattress was in very poor condition. Breakfast was not laid up, coffee was cold. There was damp and some areas of disrepair in the bedroom.

    Quiet and away from M4

Accommodation excellent but written house rules are a bit over the top, like a set of school rules. Visitors would normally take these as read but this is the first hotel where I have encountered them so forcefully stated.

"An enjoyable and relaxing stay, would be willing to recommend this hotel to others."

Staff friendly, accommodating and efficient. Peaceful atmosphere and surroundings. The food was of an exceptionally high standard.

Some big gaps between floorboards in dining room to be expected with an old building but easy to catch a slim heel in the gap ! Some evidence of damp/paint flaking in the bathroom. Overall nothing drastic.

"we had a wonderfully relaxing weekend."

the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us on our stay, even writing down directions for us when we checked out.

i was disappointed there were no highchairs available especially considering i had booked a cot in advance.

"This is a little gem of a hotel. The owners are lovely, the property is extremely well presented & in a great location. The downsides were minor but worth noting - no drinks facilities in room - very unusual these days. Plastic cups in plastic wrap instead of glasses in bathroom - not very 'green'. Receipts are sent on by email - as a business traveller I prefer to have all receipts on departure but rooms are discounted by "

Beautiul property, friendly owners, lovely rooms & great food. Excellent value for money.

No tea or coffee facilities in room.
