"Very disappointing for the price would not even rate 1 *. If you are at all unsteady on your feet or would have difficulty carring a suitcase to the top of a steep narrow staircase with no more than a doorstep sized landing at the top in which to place your suitcase when opening the door, I would strongly recommend you choose a different hotel."
friendly staff and complimentary shuttle to Gatwick airport.
This Hotel is like Faulty Towers only not so funny!! Our room was at the top of very narrow stairs, extremely difficult to navigate with suitcases and only a tiny little landing at the top on which to stand to get the door open. If elderly or at all infirm this would a have been a death trap. The room was very old fashioned and ill equipped. I enquired if a hairdrier was in the room at time of booking and was advised it was. Upon arrival I was loaned an antique hairdrier from reception that was next to useless. I had to boil the kettle on the floor as the lead would not stretch from the power point to the table and the shower room was little more than a cloak room sized closet.

"Well above average value for a UK B nad B."
Friendly and helpful staff. Basic but good food. Really good bar. Good value and a satisfactory stay. Good wireless internet. Free shuttle to Gatwick.
Room was a bit cramped and slightly care worn. Shower was tiny and had clumsy controls. TV was old, small, fuzzy and with a remote that didn't work.

"Great full breakfast, great service from Airport, Very accommodating Staff... the best in fact. We picked the right one near Gatwick! Thanks."
Very Nice place; rated 3-4 in a 5 scale... Stayed in many other Bed & Breakfasts across England and these folks know what they are doing...
It is Beautifully Europe... If you are expecting an American Five Star hotel; go to one.

"Although I was alone, I felt comfortable in the hotel."
Staff were helpful and polite.
The deserts were very similar and I would have liked the option of fresh fruit at one of the meals.

"Overall experience was good, this hotel has a lot of potential to be really warm and inviting."
Hotel was centrally located, lovely building, friendly staff. Nice and quiet.
Decor needs to be updated, a little tatty on carpets, paint etc.

"Most rooms are not in the building depicted, but are a row of unattractive small modular cabins alongside the building. Hotel grounds are crowded with parked cars of guests. Rooms very spartan, with no provisions for hanging clothes and little drawer space. Beds very soft, non-supportive. Restaurant food marginal at best."
Prompt and courteous airport shuttle.
Room facilities, bed comfort, general site appearance, restaurant food.

Crisp clean sheets, breakfast was surprisingly generous with options and tasty, service from and to Gatewick Airport was great! Staff friendly.
Kinda of a dark, dingy, older-than-I-normally-stay-in-hotel.

"This is an ideal location when flying our from Gatwick to fly home, stay 2 nights and get a bit of rest. Town is close by and transportation to get anywhere is available. We would love to come back and see more of the area. We walked everywhere even to a church taking the long way around.Dinner in the hotel is excellent and bar very friendly."
comfortable bed, light [2 lg. windows]
steep stairs and extremely small bathroom which I had to step up to: this was more difficult as I had fallen down stairs in Paris

"First room was right beside the transit bus to airport so didn't get much sleep that night with bus starting and stopping.Apart from the bus noise room was good.Might be worth shuffling the parking outside to move bus away from right at the door as that wiould help a lot. Breakfast was good and dinning room was of a high standard. Second night reception phone must have been really loud as was wakened by the phone ringing and Ringing between 4 and 5 am.Must have rang & rang and rang off about 6 times. The reception must have been away taking someone to the airport. Apart from this can't fault the place and will use again."
Room and breakfast were good.

"The hotel was affected by the heating and water systems breaking down, which is why I have rated it down; a very cold room with a freezing shower was not pleasant. However, they were very apologetic, and provided an extra heater."

"Your hotel staff is wonderful and so friendly. The young man who picked us up from the airport was so nice! As we arrived right in time for dinner, it was nice to have a place to have a meal right where we were staying. Our dinner was served quickly and it was piping hot and very tasty. The Pub was fun and we really enjoyed talking with all the happy guests also staying at your hotel. The Town of Horley where your hotel is located is lovely. We felt very safe walking into town in the evening. It is a very short stroll into town and you can walk to the train station to get the train to London - very convenient. Your morning breakfasts were greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our stay so much that we discussed coming back to London soon and again staying at your hotel. Thank you for such a pleasant time."
Your close location to Gatwick Airport is so convenient! Being picked up by your hotel helped to take the stress out of the whole airport process.

"Great to wake up with the birds rather than any other noises, Lovely! Staff were very helpful and polite and the evening meal was really good home cooking and what big portions!!"
The room was clean and relatively spacious. Being woken up by the birds in the morning rather than aeroplanes and traffic for the location was a very pleasent surprise, lovely!!!
There was damp on the walls behind the beds and the shower was covered in mould which wasn't very plesant.
from St. louis, mo US stayed on June 19, 2007
"The room was perfectly adequate and clean with a tiny but clean and more than functional bathroom. So far so good. The staff on the other hand was wonderful and very helpful. One actually gave us a ride to another town when we were looking for a place to eat; we had some cheese they kept in the fridge for us; the shuttle service to and from both train station and Gatwick was quick and easy and of course free; they offered up help in finding other eating spots, public transport and friendly chat. We were there at the end of three weeks in England and were heading home from Gatwick. We were very glad we picked this hotel for our last two nights on the road."
Very friendly and helpful staff, internet access, neighborhood

"Served the purpose well, ie a weekend stay. Good transit hotel for airport. Staff helpful and facilities ok. Equivalent to a 2 star hotel."
Very convenient for Gatwick Airport. Good breakfast.Clean room.
Unfortunately this appeared to be an extremely busy weekend and staffing was grossly inadequate.

"This is nice accommodation at a reasonable price with very helpful staff. The Gatwick airport service was excellent although it might be helpful for people arriving in the area before they fly to know how to contact the hotel for pickup."
clean and roomy
a bit noisy because of our room location

"Was not as good as we had expected especially the servicing of the room. The food when we ate in the dining room was excellent. The breakfast was buffet and the food was not appetizing in its presentation nor hot. It had been left too long on the heating elements."
location and the ground floor room accomodation.
lack of service to the room. Sometimes there was no soap replacement nor handtails
from Saint petersburg US stayed on June 12, 2007
"All in all it was everything we needed. I would like to see the price per night for holiday parking lowered a bit. Maybe just for those who use this service often. My inlaws come over a couple of times a year and you would have them everyime, except the big hotels let the car stay free. I know that they have more room then you, but maybe even a system where every third time they stay with you, the car parking is free for that trip. It would be a great insentive."
It was clean, fast and convenient to the airport. Everyone was very helpful.
room was small for four people. Lack of Bed and breakfast charm.

We enjoyed the quiet setting close to the airport. Never heard an airplane! Quaint bar and restaurant on the premises, comfortable beds were also appreciated.

Did not like the shower. It was not possible to adjust the water pressure nor the spray direction. It came straight down, full force.

"Unexception but functional decor, spotless bathrooms, but sheets that scratch and irritate and an unblockable outside light shining across the bed at night prevent me from recommending this property."
close to airport
door had a large wavy glass insert which blocked others from looking in the room as they walked past, but did nothing to block the security lighting from shining into the room all night! Sheets were stiff with unrinsed detergent or whatever finishing agent the use when ironing. No information about eating or getting around in the area.

"We would use this Guest House again if in the area. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with a good choise of basic items. We would recomend to anyone wanting a good Guest House at very reasonable cost."
A small very friendly Guest House only fove minutes from gatwick Airport. However there was no noise from the aeroplanes, Great value for money.

"This hotel seems to have run down since we stayed there last time. Little has been done to keep it in good shape and the smell of fried foods almost knocks you over when you enter the place. They need to put a bit of money back into the place to get it back up to speed. "
the staff person was very helpful- however I think they are understaffed. He was wearing many hats while we there.
