"Generally a good stay."
Friendly staff, nice breakfast.
Parts of the hotel look like they could do with freshening up - a bit of a refurbishment wouldn't go amiss in certain areas.

Lovely people- from shuttle service to check-in desk
No lift, but not really a problem. Hotel a bit dated, but in a nice, quaint sort of way.

"Our stay was very pleasant the room was clean and looked as though it hadn't been long completed."
The hotel was undergoing a refurbishment and the entrance and bedroom had been finished but some of the other parts of the hotel were still in the throws of it all though there were notices up about that.
For the money which was £39.50 booking on line I wouldn't pull it to bits at all.

"The reception area is appallingly grubby and dated. I can honestly say that for the first time in a long time my heart sank, I was expecting the room to be as bad and was so relieved to find this was not the case. If this is a reverse physcology excerise it's inspired, if not as I suspect it's just an oversight then it's unforgivable."
The rooms were actually very comfortable and had very good facilities, comfortable bed, great TV with satellite channels, tea and coffee.I have paid much more for rooms before and had a lot worse.
Reception area, shockingly bad.

"Good value for money but with a few tweeks could have been excellent. Great for a cheap overnight stay."
Room really nice, bed extremely comfortable, clean, tidy and warm.
Shower didn't work properly - kept cutting out and then was freezing when you turned it back on, breakfast was chaos but to be fair they were very under staffed and there was a lot of guests. Corridors, reception and restaurant looked tired.

"We would never stay at this hotel again or even recommend this hotel to anyone. "
Bathroom was clean. Tv was adequate. Room was quiet. Security was good.
No hot water available in the morning, and we were not the only ones. The restaurant was not open for breakfast or dinner. The beds were atrocious in that the mattress was far too soft and the mattress was larger than the base, so had to make sure we stayed in the midlle of the bed to stop falling out. No cler instructions as to use of heating in rooms. Hotel transfer - called for 7 am transfer to airport. Did not leave until 715 and arrival in airport at 730 - no time for breakfast at airport as no breakfast available at hotel. Talking to front desk at 6 am regarding water problem, and he said to leave water running for 10 - 15 mins - not time to wait for water to heat up.

"very Dissappointed, if i was to stay again,i would like to see a great deal of change, always value for money is what customers look for in this type of hotel, unfortunatly this was not the case !"
newly refurbed,
Was 1st given a twin room, i was made to embarresed to say we asked for a double room as stated on the internet & booking reference. When finally given the double room as booked we found we had stained sheets, after calling the gentleman at reception, he sent up more sheets that did not fit the bed. In the morning after running the shower for 10mins we found that we couldn't have a shower as there was no hot water, however there was hot water from the sink,so we were able to wash our faces before breakfast. The table & chairs look reasonably new in the breakfast room, but was a very cold experiance, tea & coffee was offered when shown to the table, however no selection of teas, or at least one other maybe a hebal tea, coffee was not very nice at all,it tasted watered down, hot breakfast was serve quite promt which would have been nice had i finished my cereals or had the chance to have to any fruit of which was grapfruit or prunes, not much choice,it also would have been nice to ask the customer how they like their eggs coooking. When checking out i mensioned the room, pleasant enough guy but i felt not enough customer service skills.

"It was a welome surprise to find such a lovely room in a hotel which was extremely uninvititing to walk into and appeared very down at heel, but it did the job. "
The room was clean bright and decorated to a high standard
The reception area was shabby. The bar was dingy and shabby. The restaurant was dark shabby and very uninviting. The cooked breakfast was prepared without pride, was greasy and barely edible.and I like a good breakfast and am not fussy about food. The old piled up furniture around the outside of the building and general air of delapidation was not very pleasant.

"Terrible hotel. Terrible value."
Close to gatwick.
Tv reception non-existant, only static noise. Hot water did not work in the shower. Carpets in disgusting state, stains of all kinds were on it. I found girls knickers down the back of the cupboard. Bed was uncomfortable. TERRIBLE value for money.

"Disappointed"
Bedrooms very nice and comfortable.
The check in was very slow, confusing and not very well organised at all. The bar was closed when we arrived. This is a great shame as all our party wanted to have a drink before leaving for a wedding. In the evening the bar closed at 11pm. In the morning the service in the breakfast room was extremely slow. We had to wait 40 minutes for breakfast to be served, there were also other guests complaining. There were not enough staff on duty.

"Bad , very bad , walls were also thin, I could hear the couple next door talking, just talking."
It was adequate , and that was all that was required
Waking up the next norning , finding my car under 6 -7 inches of water in their car park, and I , booted and suited , had to get soaking wet because no person had wellingtons. I am sure that this problem has happended in the past, this motel is very unprofeesional in that respect in not covering the eventuality for this problem of no drainage. I had to fly out with both feet soaked , feeling uncomfortable and miserable despite the motel offering me 2 plastic bags and some sellotape. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?

"Very nice place to stay, and would recommend it to friends."
The newly renovated portion of the hotel is in great condition. The shuttle from from and to the airport was a great benefit of staying at the Skylane. Food in the lounge was great.
No bad points.

"Very good rooms at a reasonable rate"
Excellent decor and pristine bathroom
Smell of paint as if the room had just been decorated, plasma tv that didn,t work,no early alarm call even though it was booked at reception.

unfriendly reception staff. Dirty bathroom and broken facility and no heating although what looked like a new airconditioning system had been taped into place - looked good but did not work It felt like i was staying in a doss house Never would I stay there again!

"Adequate hotel for a stop-over to or from the airport. Could do with some room refurbishment, but it looked like this was happening at the hotel. Could do with a lift!"
Good Courtesy service to and from the airport and it was free.
No Lift and I was on the top floor with a heavy suitcase.

"This place is a DUMP! If you like vintage hotel decor, this is your place. The interior has not been redone since 1965. No a/c and all the rooms face the front of the hotel which was very noisy. Also, the walls are paper thin so earplugs are highly recommended."
The lovely van driver. He was the nicest man. The cooked breakfast was also very good.
Pretty much everything.

"it would of been nice to have been told that the bus back from our holiday stopped at 11,45pm. we where told just to ring at the yellow phone at the pick up point and we will come and collect you this needs to be made more clear , also we had to be at the airport far to early for our flight the whole idea of staying near the airport is to prevent having to leave so early"
ok very basic room ok for overnight stay.

"I asked the receptionist at check-in what the rooms were like and she advised tired i would of said completly exhausted myself. I asked the waitress in the morning if the bacon was grilled and she asked whats that The shower curtain was black and the carpet in the room was held together with red tape. Needless to say I slept on top of the bed and was out of there as soon as possible. I asked my Pa to phone and complain and the manager was sympathetic and agreed it was a mess but assured me it would get better and to try again in 8 months. I wont be"
