"wouldnt go back there - also hotel took two lots of payments out of my account and denied it, I had to send proof of my bank statement before they would reimburse me, they claimed they didnt hold card details but they clearly do as one payment was chip and pin and they next they took out using my card details the next day, also they didnt have a clue that I had booked a room there and claimed it was actives hotels fault"
* great central location * essentials were provided iron + board, toiletries, complimentary juice + water * the door leading out of the hotel was the best part about it
* was like a student halls of residence - parties till early hours of morning * run down hotel * nightime staff didnt have a clue what they were doing

"Adequate and just about value for money. Very noisy up till about 11pm cos of position of room and a lively bar downstairs"
Room had good range of facilities - all working except bedside radio.
Hotel overall was a little run down, needing a thorough cleaning and redecoration.

"Ok for 1 night, but I'm sure there are better!"
Adequate for a 1 night stay
Abysmal customer service from bar staff. Girl very unfriendly, didn't know wines, no smile. Looked utterly fed up! Nachos came with mango mayonnaise rather than sour cream?! Early morning alarm call I booked did not happen. Staff very poorly presented. No area set up for breakfast.

"Absolutely nothing like the brochure/website. I stayed at this hotel as I was new to the area and it advertised a bar and restauraunt. This was a mistake as it was nothing like advertised. There are plenty of other hotels, restauaunts and bars along that road and next time I would book a hotel without a bar!"
Warm and clean sheets. New TV shame it couldnt be heard over the noise of the bar downstairs though
Hotel had lost my booking and initally were unsure if a room would be available to me. Eventually a room was made available and the following day, they found my booking. Very inconsistant service with regards to food e.g. quality, presentation, arrangements - very hit and miss and staff weren´t bothered. The bar/restaurant was more like a student bar - cheap beer, loud music, bad service and packed with students. My room was over the bar and was therefore VERY noisy. Room had mouldy ceiling, net curtains, shower and kettle was full of mould. Something nasty sprayed up the wall next to bed. Old, damaged, chipped furniture. Thread bare carpets. Cleaner plays stereo in in hallway when cleaning all rooms on that floor - loud enough to be heard from either end!

"Would not book same hotel again - plenty of others to chose from along the same road."
Good, pleasant area in terms of closeness to relative and to dining out Staff very pleasant and helpful
very old fashioned place - tired furnishings no control over temperature of water from shower

"Not a good experience at all. The room that we stayed in should not be used until the flooring at least has been corrected."
Location. Bedding was clean.
Room poorly maintained and fittings poorly installed. Floor severley uneven with wooden blocks used to level furniture. Carpet and curtains dirty. Poor water pressure and TV reception. One of the bannisters on the landing was held up with a shelf bracket. No safety catch on window despite being on 2nd floor.

some staff were very friendly in an informal way
needs decorating, quite urgently

"This hotel was about my sixth or more choice as it is difficult to make a booking in Newcastle if your stay includes a weekend or two, and I was not entirely surprised by its shortcomings. It is not a place to stay for more than a few days, although a good place for a bar meal. "
Staff pleasant, room clean and well looked after. Meals and drinks very reasonably priced. Excellent location.
impression that the place was understaffed and that the hotel was no more than an annex to a trendy bar. If the bar had been busy, the menu choice was very depleted and one could not get a drink after the bar had closed at eleven o'clock. The bathroom was cramped

"I was not impressed. Staircarpet was shabby and there was a 'run down' feeling to the reception area"
Bed was comfortable
Television controls very difficult to operate. Lack of a remote control or any instructions for it. Hot water took a very long time to arrive in the handbasin.Breakfast arrangements rather offhand.

"alright due to good location"
- modern furniture in the room
- quite noisy - thin walls i.e. you can hear you room neighbours snore at night - cups in the room were only inadequately rinsed with water - some coffee stains remained, i.e. no fresh cups after they've been used

"the hotel staff and rooms and service were excellent . I think the corridor is a bit dated but i did not stay in the corridor so no problem"

"I booked a number of rooms for young adult family and partners as we were celebrating my daughter's 21st in Newcastle. As far as i am aware the rooms were reasonable, I don't kmow what breakfast was like but I thought stopping serving breakfast at 9.30am on Sunday wss a little early and the single room was not as nice as the doubles. Generally everyone seemed happy with the hotel. I had to make a few changes to the booking and had no trouble doing this "

"Room comfortable. Hotel and bar clean. Reception manned 24/7. Most staff pleasant. Suits basic needs as you can come and go as you please."
Room was cleaned everyday. Someone on reception 24/7. Most staff friendly. Heater in room if nights get cold.
On arrival left to find my own way to room. No proper procedures in place. Young staff didn't know what to do when I asked to put valubles into safe.

"Disappointed with the state of the room and the level of service."
It looks nice from the outside!
Run down, noisy, too hot in rooms, generally in need of repair. Didn't appreciate being phoned up a week or so prior to our stay to pay for the room in advance!

"Very poor standard and over-priced. I can't believe this hotel can get away with charging "
Good location for the Great North Run
Dirty bed linen with holes in the sheets and pillow cases Holes in the carpet and rubbish on the floor - a very dirty and unpleasant hotel Our room was next to a noisy bar and the gents toilets

"One night stay only but good experience"
Excellent value for money, friendly staff. Provided with a double room although booked and paid for a single. Room well provided with storage space chair and sofa, good car park. Good value breakfast.
Bathroom rather small and shower not thermostatically controlled.

"Good to stay in a non-corporate place - staff friendly and helpful. "
Not corporate, idiosyncratic
poor bathroom fittings - shower not working properly - decor etc. a bit tired. Breakfast extra, which I find annoying and will buy my own.

"This is a relatively cheap basic hotel and suited my needs in terms of price and location. Not somewhere I would chose to stay for pleasure but for a bed for the night and a reasonable breakfast it is fine."
Basic affordable accomodation in a good area with secure off street parking
Rooms a bit tatty and had a bit of a smell about them. Noisey fellow guests were running up and down the corridor at 3.00 am!

Reception staff very pleasant and helpful during my stay.
Needs a thorough clean in the 'dining' and bar area. Frightening to imagine what the kitchens may be like!

"I was pleasantly suprised with the accomodation considering it was advertised as a 2 star hotel, therefore it was nice to see that we had an ironing board, coat hangers in the wardrobe etc, all the little things made it a cosey little room. I was slightly concerned on arrival as there appeared to be a lot of noise and partying going on in the bar downstairs but we couldn't hear it from the room upstairs. Had we been staying in the hotel longer than one night I am sure we would have been participating! The only complaint that i would have would be that the man checking us in was not particularly welcoming and didnt give us the option of breakfast, nor did he tell us what time we had to check out. Also, lovely hot water and a nice powerful tap in the bath. A pleasant suprise for a hotel!"
Good location, lively atmosphere, very clean and all extras tea + coffee, soaps etc nicely presented.
One side of the bed was very comfortable, the other particularly uncomfortable room 117. We checked in quite late about 10pm and the staff member checking people in didn't seem too happy about having to check us in.
