"very good value for money, very helpful staff as parents are elderly and were offered help with bags. "

Size of bed very good, they have always taken my request for rooms which were easily accessible as one of my parents is unable to climb stairs.

Would have liked towels changed or the towel rail to be on in the bathroom. A bit slow with the breakfast on Monday morning as they were cooked to order 30 mins

"Very good rooms, restaurant and staff were helpful and friendly. Our party of mixed adults and two five year olds were all impressed"

All round excellent facilities although there was two weddings going on which made reception and the bar area very crowded for a long time

    No bad points

    "Excellent."

beautiful hotel. Great location. Couldn't fault it really.

Nothing major. One of the waitressing staff, between serving food leaning against table biting her nails!! Not a good impression!

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay. We like the area and the safari style of the hotel. It is different. We may return if the opportunity arises."

Room spacious Bed comfortable Grounds tranquil Food and service very good Staff helpful and professional Location excellent

We missed the lifts, with our heavy baggage the stairs were difficult. Although the food was excellent the menu did not change in the 4 nights we were there. It would have been nice if there had been a choice of special meals each evening. The gym is not a gym. It is just a few pieces of equipment at the far end of the pool. You have to walk past the pool in footwear. There were 2 noisy wedding parties of 90 people each which crowded the bar 2 nights running, taking all the seats at times when we wanted to relax in the evening. The drawers in ALL our bedroom furniture would not stay closed room 315. They were a hazard. I have never experienced this before in any of the hundreds of hotels where I have stayed. I solved it by jamming socks between them to keep them shut but it was a nuisance. I now know where the phrase "put a sock in it" comes from.

The staff were friendly, professional, helpful. In fact absolutely wonderful. If I stayed at the hotel again it would be because of the staff. They could not have been better.

The room we were in 106 was unbearably hot. It was hard to work out where the heat was coming from!

    "Relaxing and enjoyable."

Friendly staff and cleaners, lovely swimming pool, excellent food.

Spacious restaurant but placed at next table to family with young children who were noisy and running around. Spoilt a lovely, and not inexpensive, meal.

"Value for money hotel in pleasant countryside."

Pleasant hotel, unusual construction. Breakfast was cooked to order which is a plus. Value for money too.

Slightly annoying to have an unexpected 5% service charge added to the cost on departure. Bathrooms dated, about 1980.

"Really enjoyed the whole stay including the zoo and would return and reccomend it to friends."

We went to the zoo during the day and then stayed at the hotel that evening which was lovely to just have to walk over the road after a tiring day walking. The hotel is modern and clean and the staff were very friendly and professional. We used the soa facilities which were also good. We ate in the resturant that evening and the food was to a very high standard but not cheap, this was ok though as it was so good. The wine was lovely and well chilled and the service was very good. The room was large and modern and very comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a good shower. We then had breakfast the next morning which came free and that was lovely.

The lockers do not work in the spa. The fridge did not work in our room and when we asked at reception they said 'it's not a fridge its a cooler' but it was a broken fridge! The resturant is expensive.

"Adequate for a one night stay "

Dinner and Breakfast was very nice and the service was efficient. The restaurant had a very pleasant atmosphere but was virtually empty.

The floor area from the bed to the window needs some attention as it creaks badly and we found it very annoying. The bathroom also needs some attention as it looks tatty. In addition only one hand towel and one bathtowel was provided for the two of us. The pillows were the smallest we have ever seen and again only one each.

"Very good. Will stay again when visiting relatives in the area."

helpful receptionist. I had a broken ankle and she changed our rooms to the ground floor.

A really really cold bathroom floor. Supplying complimentary bedroom slippers would be good.

"Great hotel, near the zoo so excellent for families. We'd go again."

    Room: clean and large

The main resturant was booked for a Christmas function so we were placed in smaller room at the rear of the hotel. The food was still excellent.

"All the bad points were minor things but taken together they spoiled the hotel experience for us, which is a pity."

Good ambience in bar area and breakfast room. Breakfast surprisingly good. Cool corridors between rooms were refreshing - I liked them. Good sized room with relaxing decor.

Two light bulbs were not working in room which made it very dark. The shower had no thermostat, not enough water pressure and was difficult to control. Bath behind taps not very clean. We did not get our chocolate penguins on the second day and the bed was not made. Reception staff did not seem to know much about the local area e.g they could not tell us where we might buy maps of the area

"Not satisfactory. Poor and would not stay again or recommend."

The hotel staff were welcoming and friendly especially the reception staff

The temperature of the hotel was extreme. My parents room on the second floor was very warm when we arrived with problems in that the drawers to the dressing table were broken and would not close which was very annoying. My son and I were staying in another room where the temperature was fine. However the main corridor from reception to the rooms was icy. My parents did complain about their room but the alternative room had bunk beds in and a double bed and it felt cramped. It was not suitable for them so they remained where they were. They were disappointed as we had really looked forward to staying at the hotel.

"Not as relaxing as we had hoped because too many people and not enough room to separate the functions. Not sure if we will stay again. "

Reception and rooms were lovely, but a little unclean

The table lamps in the bar area were covered with cobwebs, it was noticed that the hotel was not particularly clean. The staff in the bar were unable to cope with the wedding reception and general overnight guests, we spoke to another couple who felt the same as us. The wedding reception guests, because of lack of seating ended up joining our table of two - thus intruding on our quiet night away. The only place to get peace, was to return to our room, then you have to pay service charge for your drinks to be delivered there. I think a separate bar or drinks room should be available for parties and weddings, thus allowing normal guests to have a nice peaceful time.

"Enjoyed the overnight stay. The hotel gave the impression of needing a major revamp if it is to retain its reputation."

Hotel has excellent location for local touring and its design was clearly well thought out when first built. The leisure facilities were good.

We arrived at approximately 6 p.m. and there was a large tray of dirty plates and glasses outside our room - it was still there at 9. a.m. the following morning. The bathroom had clearly seen better days. Restaurant staff were friendly but not particularly efficient.

"The whole family loved it and we are now considering returning for a longer break. Its a very nice hotel with well-trained staff who were very helpful. The pool could've been a bit warmer but on the whole it was a great stay."

The staff were brilliant, very friendly and efficient, can't fault the customer service. Also, the hotel itself and the grounds were lovely, a very enjoyable experience.

The heating seemed quite high during the night, but we found in the morning we could've changed that.

"thought the whole place was a bit overpriced, upgraded to an executive room before arriving and asked for a 4 poster bed, this didnt happen and was dissapointed as my partner and i were celebrating a very special occasion. wanted her to be really impressed when we entered the room instead i had to leave her there while i went and sorted it out, not the start i had planned. after this we found we had no towels or shower gel or any other bathroom stuff, realised about the towels after bathing so had to sit there and wait for some to be brought. overall i was really dissapointed, i wanted to make it special for my fiance and that certainly didnt happen, working in the travel industry i dont think i would recommend your hotel at the moment."

very impressed by the food, dinner was excellent, would recommend the rack of lamb.

The accommodation was clean as were the sheets & towels etc. The beds were comfortable and the room was an adequate size. The amenities tea, coffee, cups etc were also fine. The only very minor issue was a squeaky bathroom door.

I don't think we had any real criticisms. Very minor points were: 1. A squeaky bathroom door. 2. The bottom catch on the sliding balcony door didn't work.

The hotel was quite unusual and we liked that - room was a good size and restaurant excellent food and service

Swiming pool area was not very clean in the changing rooms. Also, wedding was going on and lots of noise and disruption from children in bar area and corridors. Appeared only one bar area for hotel guests and wedding reception which was quite noisy

I had one of the tatstiest and best cooked steaks of my life in the resteraunt and I look forward to trying some of the other dishes when I return. I will visit again when I am in the area."

Hotel was great and a little different with the African theme, the staff were helpful and freindly,an enjoyable stay
