"I am a very loyal customer of De Vere, having stayed at Cameron House and Carden Park already this year. you may be able to review my profile and see that I do show alot of loyalty to the De Vere brand. Up until now they have always been my preferred choice. I think it is clearly apparent that budgets have been severely cut at The Royal Bath Spa. I understand this totally in the current economic climate, but I think it has gone too far and to the detriment of the hotel and it's reputation. Overall the hotel is now a very tired-looking shadow of it's former glory. This is such a shame. "

Hall Porter and Bar Manager were very courteous, helpful and efficient.

    - Very poor decor and furniture in room. - Very difficult to open door with key-card.. had to try several times before success. Even a member of staff could not do this promptly ! - Bathroom shower fittings broken and both taps emitting HOT water ! - Lack of amenities in room, i.e. no room service menu, no pen, no directory, no heating ! - Only 1 person intermittently on Reception duty in the evenings, so very difficult to get hold of by phone, or personally. - No restaurant services after 10pm. - I telephoned in advance to enquire about room upgrades, and ws told it would be no problem to ask for noe upon arrival. HOWEVER, upon arrival I was told the hotel was full. BUT the lady immediately after me complained about her room, and was given an immediate replacement and upgrade ??? -

"Very good but did wonder if we were given someone elses room as gentleman in front of me complained and was moved and suddenley we were located to the floor he complained about. other than that we enjoyed our stay would have liked more time to enjoy the facilities"

location excellent, no need for car but cost of parking expensive£15 per day excellent value for money, not too busy in pool or gym massage was excellent generally a quite hotel and seaview impressive.

Lift out of order and we were on 5th floor although this was fixed by 3rd day, radiators very noisy, and work men made lots of noise on the roof early morning and it would also be good if they had an express checkout

Mix up with check in. They thought we had arrived the day before. Steam room out of action and jacuzzi. only one shower working in changing rooms. room overlooking carpark

"I should have asked for a different room as the rest of the hotel seemed very good. "

Comfortable bed , great hotel facilities and good breakfast

Room with a frosted window looking into a central court yard with no proper curtain. Maintainance staff congregated in the courtyard and even used the windowsill to sit on whilst they had a smoke. Also shower screen was ineffective

"Not as classy as I remember itused to be , but acceptable standard and good value at price I paid via an internet site booking."

good towels. Pleased to have a trouser press. Do not know if I was upgraded as orinal room had faulty lock.

A bit noisy Slow check in. Disappointed to be told at last minute you wanted room cost and deposit for extras to be put on my credit card if I wanted to stay which I certainly never saw before booking.I felt like a suspected criminal. The bathroom was small

"Overall we found the hotel welcoming but were disappointed that our rooms were not closer or similar in size considering they were booked together and we checked in at the same time. "

Rooms were clean, leisure facilities excellent and most staff were friendly and helpful.Good breakfast

Room was rather small with small double bed, no air conditioning or fans. Booked two rooms at the same time, checked in together and we were placed on different floors, Friends room was much bigger with queen size bed.-we paid the same!Situated over front entrance and main street, rather noisy all night.

room dated and furniture old fashioned and fairly well worn. Breakfast was very disappointing compared to our experience of other De verre collection hotels.

    "Very good"

The hotel is very beautiful and the staff very helpful and polite, the food is excellent and service very good.

We arrived about 4pm and after 5 hours of travelling needed a rest before dinner. We did not book, as we did not think it necessary as we were residents. We went down to the restaurant at 7pm and were told there were no tables available until 9.30pm. We were very dissappointed that we were not advised to book the restaurant on our arrival.

    Very clean room,

Not friendly reception/welcome. Lack of "a smile" from any member of staff.

"Lovely location, friendly staff but spoilt by hotel pretending to be something it no longer is. Obviously in need of enormous facelift and though the deal was good, it was not good enough for the standards given. "

Quiet and peaceful room overlooking gardens. Helpful staff.

Sash windows pained over and wouln,t open. Patio door had to be kicked to open and closed with a chain. Key didn't lock so room insecure as leading directly onto gardens. No linen in restaurant. Whole decor very tired and outdated. Suede coat soaked with water whilst on restaurant chair from leaking roof. Flight of stairs to room although no lift.

"Very enjoyable. Would book online again but would ring hotel prior to arrival to confirm."

Room was lovely, breakfast was fantastic with an excellent choice. Very convenient for the town centre. Helpful and friendly staff.

An admin error meant the hotel thought we were checking in a day earlier and it took quite some time to rectify this error. View out of the room was awful - it looked straight on to the back of a building.

"This was a lovely stay, excellent location and friendly staff, would recommend and stay again."

Nice hotel, excellent location, lovely gardens, excellent room.

Late check in, we arrived at 12.30am and were told our room would not be ready until 3pm, we wasted the next two hours in town and did not realise there were such lovely gardens that we could have waited in, 3pm is unreasonable in my opinion anyway.

"This hotel is dated and very poorly furnished and decorated. The Royal Bath and Bournemouth as a whole needs to catch up with other developing towns and cities in the UK. I often use the Malmaison group, as I did on Tuesday night in Liverpool, whose hotels are faultless. I think the best way to summarise this is to inform you that if the Malmaison group open a hotel in Bournemouth, I shall be booking there and not at the Royal Bath. The Royal Bath is inferior at every turn compared to other leading hotels and certainly does not deserve it's current star rating."

    The breakfast, except the sausages

    Almost everything

"Room above must have had a serious flood as one of the walls in our room was water damaged and the wallpaper and paint were peeling off to quite a large extent. Noise from room was awful - were were kept awake until around 5am by pedestrian crossing that goes off every few minutes even in the middle of the night and even with our window shut it was very loud. We were not advised of the excessive noise when we booked. I do not know if this hotel is supposed to be a four or five star but there is absolutely no way our room was a five star, it would be pushing it to be a four star. POOR VALUE FOR MONEY."

Hotel looked nice from the outside and our room was big.

"THE HOTEL IS TOO EXPENSIVE. IT MAY BE LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE BUT THE WELFARE OF HOTEL GUESTS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE OF MUCH IMPORTANCE. IT APPEARS THE HOTEL IS MORE INTERESTED IN LEISURE CENTRE MEMBERS AND OCCASIONAL CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS."

THE ROOM WAS GOOD AND ROOM SERVICE WAS GOOD BUT THE ROOM WAS VERY NOISY BEING ON THE ROUTE TO THE LEISURE CLUB.

THE TABLES WERE NOT LAID FOR BREAKFAST.NO SIDEPLATES,NO MILK, NO BUTTER. IT WAS NECESSARY TO CARRY EVERYTHING TO THE TABLE. IT MIGHT BE EASIER FOR THE STAFF BUT DOES ANYONE THINK OF THE GUESTS?
