"The hotel location is excellent for the town centre, restaurants and nightlife. The staff are friendly and helpful. The secure parking is good, though I think it's unreasonable for the hotel to charge guests for parking. The bedroom was clean but was not to the standard expected for the price. It was badly in need of re-decoration. The walls were marked and the carpet was stained. The TV also needed attention, the picture quality was terrible. One final comment - though this applies to many hotels I have stayed at - clean your windows, especially at the front of the hotel."
The room was not to the standard expected for the price. It was sorely in need of re-decoration, ie the carpet was stained, the walls were covered in marks.

"The hotel itself was fine but our room was poor. Over priced for the standard. I went to reception on several occasions and there was never anyone there and no way of alerting staff to you being there. All staff were very friendly and helpful."
we liked the breakfast
The bathroom was dusty and has cob webs all around the bathroom window. There was also a very strange smell in the bathroom.

"This is the second time we have stayed here. It makes for a relaxing break & it is ideally situated in the centre of Bournemouth. The rooms are spacious & well appointed. The restaurant serves good food in pleasant surroundings. The staff are friendly & attentive & provide a good standard of service. I would not hesitate to stay here when visiting Bournemouth in the future."
The hotel is very comfortable with good size rooms & lounge areas. The standard of food in the restaurant is very good.
Minor items of maintenance changing of light bulbs not attended to. This should have been done even though it was a busy bank holiday weekend.

"I booked the hotel and after read the reviews, they were very mixed! So I was worried about our stay. We pulled up outside and I was very pleased with the look of the hotel, we checked in and the staff were great. In some peoples reviews they complained about 'creeky floor boards' yes they are but thats the age of the building its amazing what some peolple moan about. Our room was lovely and spacious which we need for our young daughter, also very clean I love the M & B touch in the bathroom they have class when it comes to soapAll in all it was a great couple of nights stay and we would definately come back!! One last thing the location of the hotel is perfect in relation to the town and the lovely beach."

"The hotel seemed very disorganised. Decor and facilities seemed a little run down - there was no air conditioning anywhere in the building. It also seemed woefully under-staffed - it often took a long time to get through to anyone on the room phone. Unfortunately we were ill for the majority of our stay and had to use room service: Orders were invariably late or wrong e.g. no bread roll with soup; no drinks etc or lacking in the right crockery/cutlery e.g. Afternoon tea was served with no plates or tea cups!and on top of that there is a "

"Having stayed in the hotel some 12 years ago it was very disappointing that the standards had deteriorated. At the last stay the excellent service started from the moment we arrived when the concierge and night porter met us in the car park and made a point of carrying our luggage for us and didn't end until we left. Unfortunately this time the night porters did nothing to help us when we arrived, we had to knock on the window to pull them away from the TV to let us in and then almost fell over them with our luggage - they offered to carry our bags when we were 10 yards from our room - no doubt seeking a tip! The rest of the stay was Ok, food Ok, but the decor in our room was tired and the window wedged open with a toilet roll! No hotel guide was found in our room - just not the old Norfolk Royale we had enjoyed so much on our last visit."
Well located
Decor was tired

accommodation was fine. The first room we were given was on road, very noisy but we were moved to a quieter room at the back. This was a smoking room. Why not put smoking rooms at the fron facing the road?

"Babys high chairs are faulted. My daughter was having her dinner and the high chair seat collapsed, dropping her to the floor. I did not expect to have to check the clips, nuts, bolts are fitted correctly. Thankfully she was ok but not an incident that shouldn't have happened!!! Hotel were not aware of the deal I had booked and wanted to over charge me...... staff at this stage were not friendly. I should not have to spend in total about 1 hour over two days arguing about this with staff. When arriving at the hotel - the requested cot was not in our room. However after asking, it did arrive. The floor in our bedroom was all tiled - I don't think this was a very poor choice of room for a 14 month only baby....... not nice for her to crawl around and I was constantly worried that she would bang her head on the floor. Not all rooms are tiled, most seemed to be carpet, so why we were given this room I am not sure!! Nice hotel, however with all the incidents it was not a relaxing weekend as was expected from a 4* hotel."
Nice hotel, good facilities. Staff were generally friendly.

"The lesuire activities where all very nice, clean and easy to find. The mattress was too soft and i dont normally get back pain but i did on the last two nights. this may have been a one off in our room. The hotel is in a very good location and i dont think this was empathised as well as it should be on the booking website, average distances from the beach, park, shops, pubs and the restaurants would be great as i had to look this up on google earth, or to show on the map main tourists spots. the Overall feeling as i felt was very positive, the staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. 10 out of 10 for the politeness and helpfullness of the staff."
All of the staff were very professional, polite and friendly.
The room service breakfast was very nice, but lacked things like salt and pepper and butter for toast which i dont know if it's just me but i feel that is a nesesary items for breakfast, and 2 sets of cutlery for two people, i put the cutlery down to a one off mistake but felt that i needed to write it on the back of the room serivice order form.

"Overall we found the staff on reception and in the restaurant not quite knowing what they should be doing. They would benefit from a person in charge who would ensure that customers were catered for in a reasonable time and that continuity of food available for breakfast, is kept up. However, your bar staff were excellent and are a credit to you."
The position of the hotel is good for shopping.
The stay overnight was offset by the poor decoration of the room and the curtains, when pulled, looked like they may have fallen off at any time.

"Having stayed at the hotel before we were looking forward to our return visit. While overall we were not disappointed and enjoyed the experience, we did feel that the level of service provided when dining, both throughout dinner and breakfast was not very professional. Having ordered red wine with our evening meal white arrived!! Having asked for herbal tea at the breakfast table ordinary tea arrived!!"
Traditional hotel in an ideal location.
