"If the weather conditions had been better, we would probably have refused the room and travelled home after the event we were attending"

Bed was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good.

Condition of bathroom was 'very badly worn' and drainage was bad from bath and washbasin. Windows were ill-fitting and with only a light breeze they were rattling loudly all night

"Sufficed,as were going to a concert, but would consider alternate hotel for future stays"

    Breakfast very nice.Staff fiendly

Anyone was able to enter the foyer,no security to stop this!Located in very niosy area, with no double glazing the noise was audible throughout the night. Entrance very loud and noisy, with lots of revelers from nearby pub and club

"Would stay again if i was with my partner but not as a single traveller"

as lift wasn't working we were offered room service which we took.

lift not working also it was a long walk to hotel reception from street level entrance as a guest using public transport. As a woman on my own it felt a very uncomfortable walk!

"Our room was not cleaned properly seemed as though someone had started cleaning and got called away. Rubbish in room, bath dirty and beds not changed, didn't realise this until got in the bed and there was a pair of Pyjamas under the pillow!!!"

    Cheap price, great location

It is not the greatest hotel but price and location make it a good place to stay on a girls night out, however, it MUST be clean. Also the lift was not working because it was the weekend, this was not an issue to us but breakfast was on the 6th floor, pretty poor!!

"I wouls stay here again as I have stayed here before and had rooms which were better. Not many hotels provide car park in price and also hotle is in a great location."

good value, due to car park being included and offer of breakfast for 2 for £10. Bedroom clean and tidy.

Bathroom was rather out dated. Toilet wouldn't flush and it was dirty looking. Also windows weren't double glazed and it was rather nosiy at night.

"We enjoyed our 3 night stay and it represented good value for money."

A good location in the town centre of Newcastle near the shops, restaurants and station etc. Staff were helpful. The breakfasts were good.

Lifts were out of order. Some of the hotel looked rather run down but areas we used were fine.

"Over priced for such poor quality"

    Staff were friendly

Decor and furnishing were shabby, windows were filthy, carpets thread bare.

"Not a suitable hotel for anyone with limited mobility. Web details should state no street level access to lifts."

    Bedroom clean and comfortable.

Reaching Reception from Newgate Street involved two flights of stairs and a walk down a corridor. No lifts were working but in any case only go upwards from Reception. Couldn't have breakfast as the restaurant in on the sixth floor. Toilet squeezed in between basin and tiled wall - just a couple of inches either side. Toilet bowl disgusting - black water lines.

"Good value for money and excellent car parking facilities"

Value for money Friendly helpful staff Carpark available at no extra charge

In need of a bit of refurbishment in the main areas of the hotel Would have been more cosy if one of the bars had been open

"After a long day's travel, I was tired enough to sleep through the sirens, shouts, catcalls, and bass tones. But if I hadn't been... Maybe things are quieter on a different higher floor"

Spacious, comfortable rooms; friendly, helpful staff; amazingly convenient location, one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in years.

Poor access for pedestrians - lift only goes down to the first floor; we arrived with two suitcases that had to be lugged up a flight of stairs. NOISY! Our room faced away from the street, but raucous street noise persisted until 3.00am. Double glazing might have helped reduce it? There's a disco in the basement... the subsonics from their sound system could be felt right through the fabric of the building and the beds

Right in the heart of the city centre, 5 min walk from the train station. Spacious, clean room, excellent value for only £49. As a hotel manager myself I would quite easily pay over double for that room.

None. The only slight niggle was the long walk from the street entrance up to reception.

"It fit my needs. The hotel is a little shabby but the bedding and room were clean."

Great location right in the middle of Newcastle night life but reasonably quiet. Car parking is a luxury few city centre hotels provide. Excellent, helpful reception staff.

Only one lift working intermittently! Toilet far too close to sink.

    "Good value."

    Free parking, price.

Toilet was positioned too close to the wall! Room was warm and would get very hot - ventilation was limited with such a small window to open.

CENTRAL LOCATON WITH PLENTY OF COMPLIMENTARY PARKING ON SITE. CLEAN ROOMS.

    TIRED AND RUN DOWN HOTEL.

"having used this same hotel for the past few years its ideal for what we require ,having said that the decor and items like bed linen are the same as when we first used the hotel ,though clean, also a tad expensive"

room was clean ,staff friendly, good location

noisy at times mainly due to other guests abit on the expensive side for what it is

"Sorry, we don't plan to return......."

Helpful, friendly staff. Clean linen. Powerful shower.

Almost impossible to find car park and hotel. Permanent smell of cooking fat. Noisey and quite grubby. No loo brush. Toilet handle broke on last day's stay.

Great central city location. Excellent car parking

Bit 'tired' with regard to decor etc. Noisy - next to clubs, but Newcastle is a noisy city. Double glazing would help!

    "disappointed."

    warm and available parking

limited english of some reception staff. NO hot water on the saturday morning, complaint made to reception staff. we were advised that it would come back on later in the morning...which it didn't. surely it is possible to calculate that guests will want to shower in the morning...

"very very disapointed, there were people running up & down corridors until 6am,glasses got smashed against our room door @5.45,not even an appology when i reported it,not very good when you have your two & half year old daughter with you. Our room was in a very poor state of decoration & furnishings, the curtains being ripped, the glazing must be at least 30 years old & not soundproof as we could hear all the street noise. All in all a very forgetful experience & one we will never undertake again. "

decent breakfast, apart from the toaster only toasted one side & that needed done 4 times.friendly/helpful reception staff,no other good points

Noisy up to 6am,gave us double room after requested a child bed in the room, poor condition of the room,

    "Poor."

Internet picture of hotel very false. The entrance is next to a nightclub, no nice sign as with the picture on the net. Room very noisy due to proximity to local pubs and clubs. Room decor and facilities dated. Will not be using this hotel again, very dissapointed.

"Apart from the big issue regarding the stairs situation, which would definately prevent me from staying there again. It was a pleasant hotel."

Location of hotel was excellent. It was very clean and the overall condition of the hotel was of a high standard.

What I found to be an extremely bad point of the hotel, was that there was no elevator if you were entering the hotel from the street, It was only available if you arrived by car and entered from the car parkand you had to climb two flights of very steep stairs. This made my stay very unpleasant as I have mobility difficulties. I found the lack of information regarding the situation with the stairs, very disapointing and unacceptable, as an elevator is one of the major facitilies I have to consider when booking a hotel.

Good location to the local amenities. Excellent parking facilities.

The room was very unclean. One of the beds had bloodstains on the sheets. The bath was also very unclean around the plughole, to the stage we didnt even shower in the room.

Hotel was really close to the venue to which i attended an event and also to the train station. Staff were really nice too.

My room was by the doors in the hallway and it was a little noisy.

"Although the address is Newgate Road, there is only a small entrance on this side next to the shopping centre - the one in the photo is the 'main' entrance from the car park at the rear. Once we had found it, we had no further problems. Our room was adjacent to the elevator and there was a lot of mechanical noise. The room and bathroom were both spacious and bright."

"The hotel was basic and served our purpose but we felt that it was not very clean and were disappointed with the staff attitude, especially when we came back from a concert. We were met with disinterest when we asked if the bar was still open. We were under the impression that 24 hour room service was available but were not offered this. The other staff we saw performed their tasks adequately but not with any interest."

City Centre so convenient as a base.

Room not very clean. Entry from Newgate Street not very secure - confusing.
