"enjoyed staying at this hotel and would stay again but would probably take my own pillow. was only £85.00 for double room with great view of the castle and princes street."

hotel was very nice, great location for shopping train station and edinburgh dungeon.

the pillows where very uncomfortable so did not get a good nights sleep.

"Good central location but need to improve customer service and standard of rooms."

Great location. Amazing view from room.

Had to wait a long time to book in due to queue at reception and only one member of staff. Was then given wrong room not with castle view and had to go all the way back down to reception. Heated towel rail not working, sink leaked and room very small.

"Poor. Car park was a good ten minutes walk and staff not at all helpful "

View of castle from balcony nice.

They had no booking for us. Which they proceeded to investigate while we stood sopping wet waiting for a room. Then given a smokers room by lifts. Phone rang twice in the night at 1am and 6am just once each time.

"I have stayed in this hotel before. Whilst it is good to get a room with a view of Princess Street and the castle, this time I was glad to have an inside facing room because the roadworks are very noisy. "

The staff are polite and helpful. The rooms are a decent size, clean and tidy. I ate in the restaurant one evening and the meal was tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is well situated for shopping, sightseeing, the railway station and the airport bus.

One of the lift was out of action so there was sometimes quite a wait if you wanted to use the remaining one.

"Room very poor and let down the whole hotel. Visitor surroundings and facilities were very good value. May stay again, but only if guaranteed! a better quality room."

Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent, ideal location for pubs, shops, station etc

Room was much too small for two people sharing and extreemly poorly decoratedwashed overto the point of being grubby, though well equipped. Also some noise from air conditioning at rear, but quieter than frontage rooms with road works etc.

    Good view.

There are no parking facilities at the hotel, with the nearest carpark being a good 10 minutes walk away this is not ideal with luggage.

"I give it a C- hotel is old, but is in the process of being renovated. Very expensive for a 3 star hotel."

Room was clean, hotel had a good apperance.

Road closed in front of hotel. no parking facilities. Breakfast was pricey, cold and all around poor service. Staff is not very friendly.

"WE ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE HOTEL THE BREAKFAST WAS GOOD. WE DID HAVE A MEAL IN THE RESTAURANT ONE EVENING THE SOUP STARTER WAS VERY GOOD BUT THE MAIN MEAL WAS TERRIBLE, I HAD STEAK AND MY HUSBAND HAD FISH AND BOTH ITEMS WERE TASTELESS, IT WAS VERY OVER PRICED AND WE DIDN'T EAT THEIR AGAIN"

LOCATION CENTRAL, EASY ACCESS TO PLACES OF INTEREST, GOOD VIEW OF CASTLE STAFF VERY HELPFUL AND POLITE

BECAUSE WE HAD BOOKED ON A DEAL WE WERE GIVEN TWIN BEDS AND SEEING AS WE ARE A MARRIED COUPLE AND IT WAS OUR 4TH WEDDING ANNIVERSAY ON THE 03/09/09 THIS WASN'T VERY GOOD BUT WE WERE TOLD TO COME BACK NEXT MORNING TO RECEPTION AND THEY WOULD SEE IF A ROOM WITH A DOUBLE BED WAS AVAILABLE WHICH WE DID AND WAS SHOW ANOTHER ROOM BUT IT DIDN'T HAVE SUCH A GOOD VIEW AND THE BED WAS ONLY A STANDARD DOUBLE WHICH WHEN WE ARE USE TO A KING SIZE BACK HOME IT IS VERY HARD IT GET USED TO A DOUBLE AGAIN SO WE REFUSED THIS ROOM AND DID WHAT WE DID THE PREVIOUS NIGHT AND PUSHED THE TWO SINGLE BEDS TOGETHER. NOT SURE IF THE CLEANERS LIKE THIS BECAUSE WE FOUND THAT WHEN SHE HAD MADE THE ROOM UP IT DIDN'T LOOK AS IF SHE HAD MADE THE BEDS OR IF SHE HAD SHE HAD THEN HAD A GOOD ROLL ALL OVER THEM!!!

    Good location

Room was small and stuffy. We had a view of the air conditioning unit which droned all night! General appearance was run down - badly in need of a makeover

Good check in.Excellent young lady on bfast 24/6, I told her that she was the most pleasant and heads up person all week. Bar person evening of 21/6 very attentive and switched on.

Tired room.476. Room too hot and noisy.Side of bath pulling away to reveal dirt build up. poor tiling.Mouldy underneath soap dish on bath. hot bfast buffet unappealing, hard eggs. Left with cereal bowls whilst eating our hot bfast on mon 22/6 which we would have not minded had it been busy.Croissants cooked in a cold oven, bendy and soggy.

"I have to say that overall I was not impressed"

Good view from room. Breakfast food quality was OK.

I was put in a smoking room which stank - I am a non smoker and requested a non-smoking room. It was not made clear during the online booking process that I would be given a smoking room. I found the staff quite inattentative, especially at breakfast - trying to get someone to come to the table to serve tea was a chore - it wasn't even that busy. The recpetionist broke from his conversation with me to answer the phone and kept me waiting which was annoying.

"Overall, an ideal base for sightseeing and a good-sized room very decently priced considering the brilliant location."

Friendly and efficient staff. Attributed a good sized room with facilities to make hot drinks and a fabulous view of the skyline behind Princes Street. Very convenient location for the train station + the bus to the airport a 5-minute walk.

One should know the following: 1 Princes Street is undergoing major roadworks at the moment causing detours. Also, roadworks start early in the morning, so close the windows if you want to sleep a bit longer. 2 For those who have difficulty carrying heavy bags - Reception is on the level above ground floor, and you will need to carry your bags up a few stairs before getting to the lifts. 4 Carpets could do with upgrading.

location, you couldn't ask for a more central spot the hotel was good but the staff were great

the road works outside, which can't be helped some rooms were small but only a few

"the overall review of the stay was good"

    Room very good and comfortable

Could not use TV in room without paying supplement charge. Receptionist's command of english was poor. She could not understand what I was saying nor could I understand what she was saying. It was not made clear at the time of booking that there would be a reduced rate in one of the NCP carparks and when presenting my parking ticket I was told I had parked in the wrong car park so the ticket could not be validated. As a result it cost £ 19.80 to park overnight.

Magnificent situation, central, with wonderful views from some rooms - see below.

I was originally checked in to a room with a wonderful view over Edinburgh, but alas it was a smoking room and the windows had obviously not been opened for years! I was then moved to a room with a view only of a fire escape, which was dissappointing. It was also noisy - probably an air-conditioning unit. Why are the best single rooms reserved for smokers?

    "Fantastic location."

As they say, location, location, location.

Breakfast on Saturday 15th was a nighmare. Queued to get into the restaurant. Told to wait at the bar ... given a table, then queued 20 deep at the servery for hot food. Staff overwhelmed. Got up and had to ask waitress for a pot of tea. Told to ask our waitress. Told her we didn't know who that was. She replied, nor did she! All without even looking up.

"The hotel served the purpose for which I booked it. "

The hotel is convenient for transport connections, shopping, sight-seeing and other leisure activities.

Even in October, the room was very warm. My room was in the "inside" of the building therefore the view was of roofs, fire-escapes and noisy, ventilation ducts.

"We did enjoy the hotel for the most part and the location and restaurant was perfect. The staff was most helpful and efficient. "

Staff, room for storing baggage, size of room , restaurant, breakfast, location to sight seeing and railway.

The hotel was extremely hot in rooms, hallways, reception and restaurant. The fan, in bedroom, did help but as we came in mid July it was extremely hot. I felt that for the money we should have had some form of cooler air.

"Most city centre hotels are probably noisy. This one is right on Princes Street, very close to the station and the airport bus so very convenient. The restaurant looks over Princes Street so you can watch the world go by as you breakfast."

very central, very clean, easy walk from station, good breakfast, flat screen television with lots of channels

cheaper rooms are noisy, both from air conditioning from nearby premises and very poor soundproofing between rooms. However we were moved to a slightly quieter room without question
