"Not the best experience I have had."
Central location. Room was clean. Reception staff helpful.
Shower was very poor for a premium room. Difficult to adjust, poor trajectory, and weak flow. Not good enough for the price. Breakfast staff slow to begin with although they recovered OK - but they seemed overwhelmed by a rush around 9.00 am which woul dbe peak time on a Sunday morning.

FOOD WAS OF A VERY POOR STANDARD IE EVENING MEALS

"Fair price. Didn't look much like pictures."
Restaurant staff pleasant
Lift inadequate. Just room for 2 people with cases. Also had to haul cases up some stairs. Had to go down to reception straight away as key did not work.

"£85 should have got me a little bit better than that! the trouble is people always moan and forget the good points. being honest i bumped it to a few staff, cleaners and where i was looking for my room one showed me where it was, spoke to the gym instructor was chatting, but that one bloke in the morning over shadow them all for how he was, properly for that reason i would not stay there again"
When i checked in, the young man at the checking was very helpfully! and gave me some ideas on where to go and eat which was very good.
MY room had a tile broken outside of the bath and the paper in the bathroom on the sealing was falling of. One of the staff members who was working in the morning Friday 30th oct male where the breakfast was being served, was very rude and really grumpy, kept tutting if people were sitting in the wrong bit of the breakfast area where they are know signs to tell us where to sit he needs some customer services skills!! didn't really feel to comfortable round him

"Good. Liked the view over the park and the swimming pool."
Good room, breakfast and enjoyed the swimming pool and spa
Bathroom door didn't close properly. Perhaps hotel needs a bit of decoration and freshening up

"Adequate."
Location
No car parking. Poor breakfast. Cold plates for hot buffet. Faulty WC seat and shower holder. Bins emptied at 6.00am.

"We were very pleased with accommodations; we found a local pub we liked and were pleased the park was right across the street. That came in handy because we had visitors for one day-they had a five-year old-liked the park."
Bathroom had been renovated; room was very comfortable. All staff was always very helpful. We were quite pleased too with the one dinner we had there; the waiter was very attentive and food was great.

"A great place to stay for a short period of time-perfect!"
The gym and swimmingpool were fantastic, the tv and beds were great too. The toiletries were a bonus and the atmosphere was great.
The look of the place from the outside, the paintwork and the shower was diabolical.

"Overall good value for money and I've recommended to others if needs arise. I don't know that I would spend an extended period there but for short business trip its fine."
Staff very good, gym, pool and restaurant all good
Room decoration is in need of replacement, the lift does not install confidence that it will work properly

"Suited my purpose to attend local gig but probably wouldn't use again as first choice."
Good location, decent breakfast
No preferential parking rates at adscent NCP. Single room poor quality fixtures & fittings, bathroom little grubby and overall hotel very dated, no spare swimming trunks for guests to use facilities.

"I was disappointed, the web site give the general idea of the hotels I am used to staying in. I travel a lot in the USA mostly, even the smallest places in the mid west where better than the Park Inn. A few weeks ago I stayed in a 300 year old hotel that was cleaner and a higher standard but only two stars...."
One bath towel for two people, I had to ask twice for a second towel. Two telephones in the room one dead the other could not give me an outside line. headboards on bed banged on the wall when you moved in bed. TV did not have Freeview as stated. Mold around the bathroom window. The room smelt badly so had to leave the windows wide open. Carpet badly stained, decor & furnishings scruffy. The staff did not give me any infomation when I checked in. I was told to 'take the lift to the second floor for room 209'. At breakfast we were not asked if we would like tea or coffee or anything else that was not on a help yourself basis.

"We were only with you for one night, but everything went according to plan. The theatre is less than 5 minutes away - my wife wanted me to order a taxi, as rain was in the air - she would have felt suitably guilty had she realised how close we were! And we had a late night drink in your hotel bar before going to bed. Perfect!"
Comfortable RoomEasy access from Car Park behind hotelVery convenient for the Mayflower TheatreLovely breakfastNot expensive - in fact, surprisingly inexpensiveFriendly staff
Drunken men in late night bar - but not your fault....

"Only an overnight stop which I do often so I would stay again in similar circumstances. Good value but I would want a much better room for leisure. No need for an alarm as nearby clock tower chimes at 6 am!"
Convenient, inexpensive as have single rooms, breakfast included, fitness suite and pool a real bonus, wifi available but at a cost.
Decor and furnishings a little tired, 'hear-through' bedroom walls.

Second room was lovely, nicely furnished with modern shower room
First room was nice but needed upgrading

"a nice experience."
convenient location, nice outlook, friendly staff.
none really, the hotel doesn't have its own car park, a multistory is used nearby, 2 minutes walk, cost me £5.00 overnight charge.

The hotel was clean.
The dinner in the restaurant was very uninspiring. It was the waiter's first day of work and he was completely unsupervised. He needed support from more experienced staff.

Friendly staff, clean room, nice central location

Breakfast was nice
Though we were warned that the hotel somtimes has wedding functions etc, we were not advised on the weekend of our stay and therefore was distrurbed until the early hours of the morning. The walls were very thin so we could also hear the tv in the nect bedroon very loudly. Also when we checked out the receptionist didn't even ask us if we had a nice stay - and was even talking to one of her collegues whilst we were being served

"Good. The bacon for breakfast was very tasty."
Close to the Mayflower theatre, train station and shopping centre Southampton.
It would have been helpful if the hotel's swimming pool and sauna etc was mentioned on the confirmation / booking ref. e-mail, as I would have enjoyed using the facilities.

"OK for the price paid, but would be very annoyed if I paid the hotel asking price."
Friendly staff, good facilities.
Too hot all over the hotel. Noisey room - sound of pipes knocking or gurgling, City hall bell chimeing evry 15 minutes from 6 am, ok with window shut, but when the room is so hot you have to open the window.

"Once heating available then things were a lot better. Room on the small side but ok. Price maybe a little high for what you get and for time of year. Overall in same league as a travelodge which is far cheaper. Can't see we would use hotel again or recommend."
Very friendly staff
Heating in rooms ony available at set times even though we were in the depths of winter !!!!! Had to get a small heater from reception until central heating in hotel came on. Corner/one wall of room had dampness stains/loose paper. Light bulbs missing but fittings still alive and working.

"very good except getting hit for £8.50 parking fee for one night stay."
no complaints, solid value for money and friendly staff.
website offers refund of parking ticket, but you find it is no longer available when you book in, cheeky.

"OK for what it was i.e. somewhere to "crash" for the night but I'd have felt that I'd been severely short changed had I had to pay the original room rate of £65 +.....I'd stay again ona one night only basis purely due to location but it could be so much better. "
Friendly welcome and good central location
All the facilities/room etc. were adequate which made the reduced rate of £49.00 for the night just about value for money. I'd have to say, however, that there is a need for a major facelift. My room was OK for a one night stay but the shower attachment needed fixing, the bathroom itself was well worn and the size of the room was certainly not conducive to an extended stay. The location is probably the major selling point but it's not enough in my opinion.

"Yes it was quite a nice stay and would definaltely stay there again"
Very good value for money and hotel in a good location, the breaksfast was also very nice.
The room was a bit tired looking, could do with referbisment.

"Overall it was good."
Friendly staff esp in restaurant
Cold tap on sink was turned off so hard I couldn't use it and I am not feeble. It would have helped if we'd been told how the door key worked ....we messed about for ages looking for a slot!

"Overall it was a pleasant 'short' day to enable our teenage daughter to attend Southampton Solent University - if she gets a place I could be a regular visitor at the right price."
having left some personal belongings in the room, staff were quick to locate them and keep them at reception in order for someone to collect them for me.
cleanliness of the room's could be improved, along with hot buffet breakfast - I really missed my fried bread!!
from Nottingham UK, stayed on October 24, 2008
"Heating was very good but the room is very tired so is the rest of the hotel. The food wasn't very good i had a giant yorkshire and complained it was very salty but they didn't seem to care and were not bothered to help. so would not be going back"

"Cheaper than other hotels in area but poor for a "chain" hotel. On reflection, would rather pay more for better quality."
Staff friendly and organised.Room was clean and bed comfortable.Breakfast OK.
Really tired decor, grout missing from tiles, lots of things patched up. Terrible soundproofing - could hear everything from adjacent rooms and also from below. Floorboards loose and creaking.
