I've been looking through some photos I took a while ago and have updated the following attractions: Attingham Park - Shrewsbury, Chirk Castle near Llangollen, Croft Castle - Leominster, Lower Brockhampton - Bromyard and Moseley Old Hall - Wolverhampton. More to follow!
Packwood House
Lapworth, Warwickshire
Packwood has both an interesting house and beautiful garden, which is noted for it's unusual topiary Yew Garden based on the theme of the 'Sermon on the Mount', but also has some wonderful herbaceous borders, and all surrounded by a tranquil lake and 400 acre parkland with walks.
Blakesley Hall
Yardley, Birmingham
Finally managed to get over to Blakesley Hall in Birmingham at the start of July. This is a well preserved half timbered building run by Birmingham City Council with free admission. Interesting interior and room settings, geared towards school educational groups, but well worth a look.
Sarehole Mill
Hall Green, Birmingham
Interesting working water mill operated by Birmingham City Coucil offering free admission. JR Tolkien lived opposite as a child, and it is thought that he drew inspiration from much of the landscape and landmarks in the area for Lord of the Rings.
